that'll work.

maybe Harrison Ford.

Tom Hanks should be good though.

I had heard that it was gonna be Russel Crowe. I think he'd have been good. But Hanks is fantastic in everything, so I can't complain.

I don't see how this movie is going to be good. Books are always better than the movies, but this one in particular is going to have to leave out so much info to fit in into a couple hours....

Saweet. How long do we have to wait for this to come out?

Don't watch it?

That might turn out to be an option. Who's directing, producing, and cinematography'ing this thing?

you know, the more I think about it, Mel Gibson was clearly the best choice.

[censored] Mel Gibson.

They shoulda had Chris Rock do it.

first name that came to mind was ford, but he might be slightly old and too suave for the part.

then i thought someone like crowe or the guy from LOR (Strider i think), but they are too musclebound.

the character is a real brain, not physically intimidating at all.

so...it looks like a hanks type will do okay, i just dont know if i like him doing the part.

I cant tell whether you are joking or not.

if you arent, then have you read the book? bc i dont think mel would take too kind to the subject matter.

just a thought.

I agree with everything said here except for, "That'll work," and, "Tom Hanks should be good though." I'm a fan of Tom Hanks, but I really don't see him as this character. I just read the book last week, looked up possible plans for a movie on IMDB, and was disappointed to see this casting.

I also was thinking of Harrison Ford, but this is probably for two reasons. One, the book had a slight Indiana Jones feel to it, no to mention the fact that the character, Robert Langdon was also a college professor much like Ford's character in the IJ trio. The other reason being that the book actually described Langdon as being a bit like Harrison Ford. Anyways, Tom Hanks just doesn't work for me here, but whatever. It was a good book, and I'm sure with Ron Howard directing, it will be a good movie as well.

Ron Howard said the best part about getting Hanks was that the character "thinks" a lot, and no one "thinks" better on camera than Hanks.

I disagree with that.

The best "thinking" I ever saw was Judd Nelson in "St Elmo's Fire":

ALEC: What extra-curricular love life? (then, it hits him like a ton of bricks. You can SEE IT on his face!) What did Kevin tell you?

Am I right? Am I right?

Is Tom Hanks good? I never watch movies with him in it. The only one I can think of that isn't at least 10 years old is Catch Me If You Can.

I've heard bad and good things about this book, but Ron Howard being involved means this will A- be overrated and B- suck.

Arrested Development, 24,

executive produce (often has little meaning -- I don't know how much he was involved at all.)

B Dids

It was both. Lousy movie, worse direction.

Those other shows aren't Howard directing. That's the problem.

Well if that is what the director is looking for, I think Sean Penn would have been a good choice for the role. Sean Penn is very versatile in his roles and I think he could fit the part to a T.
