What is data mining as it relates to online poker?

Data mining refers to gathering data from online sites, usually PartyPoker and its skins, for later import to PokerTracker.

For instance, you can open 4 random games at PartyPoker and the hand histories from those games will be saved and imported into PokerTracker. You do not need to sit in the games, just observing is enough. Then, when you go back to play at PartyPoker, PokerTracker will already have a lot of hands saved for some of the players you'll be facing.

It's a way of getting information for later use.
