I have a high definition TV with the hi-def pack for Xbox. I was wondering how much of a difference there is between the Xbox as a DVD player a nice one like the Samsung HD-upconvertor. Basically will there be a noticable improvement with the Samsung? I can only have one...

why can you only have one? Also, I would imagine a progressive scan one would be better. Do you know if the XBox's DVD player is progressive scan?

the only way to know is to try it out. it will still look good without it, and i'm inclined to think the xbox is a fine choice if you're debating it. but many people can tell the difference, particularly on action scenes. it doesn't add any resolution to the picture, but motion is made more stable by the lack of interlacing. an ancillary example: for hdtv people want sports/high-action in 720p (stable) and drama/suspense/comedy/etc in 1080i (higher resolution).
