This is UTG+1's first hand at the table, so no reads. UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, Hero raises to 800 with AsKh. Everyone folds to UTG+1 who calls. Flop comes 7d, Qh, 6c. Utg+1 is all in for around 2000 chips. (this would have put me all in). Hero folds. This would have been a bad call, right?

Well There is a lot of info missing.
First off - what are the blind levels?
2nd - what was your exact chip count?
3rd - why are you raising roughly 1/3 of your stack here?
You might be pot committed depending on how much you have.
I would say this is most likely a fold though.
If he is on a bluff - good bluff by him. Even if it's AJ or AT. If he has Ax and hit his x you have 3 outs. If he had Q high - you have 6 outs.
Even if he has 8-9, then he still have 14 outs 2 times over.
Definate fold, but it looks more like you butchered this pre-flop. Please let us know chip stacks and blinds/antes.
One final thought is where you were in the tournament?
If you are just in the money- and it's 20 places until you move up again - might be worth it to "Gambool" as you would be really short stacked with a fold.

I'm sorry, you're right there was a lot of info missing. Blinds are at 100/200. My exact chip count is 2665. It was still fairly early in the tournament. I raised 4x the BB. I would say I'm definitely not pot-committed at this point. Are you saying i should have raised more preflop to try to pick him off right there?
edit: If I wasn't clear before, utg+1's bet was 2000 to me to call.

You should have raised less if you were going to fold to a flop all in when you whiffed.
that being said, i would fold there.

I would have either raised 2.5xbb to 500. Or I would push all in. The 4xbb is just too much of your stack.

i'd push. you're not going to be able to make a raise and both have a chance to fold out villain and be able to play comfortably on the flop. it'll be much easier if you're all-in. there's 500 chips out there and you only have 2600, so picking up that pot without having to see a flop would be a good result for you.

So is an AK a normal push for you guys in situations like this?? Meaning preflop?

this is one of the few places where I don't mind a minraise preflop.

yeah, i meant push pre-flop. sklanksy says in TPFAP that pushing AK pre-flop is often right when your stack is 2-5 times current pot.

Table and player dependant. I am not a big fan of raising hands 40-50% of my stack. If it's that big I'd push. I do think a raise to 500 here would have been enough instead of the 800
Id either raise to 475 or push. Either are viable.
And yes, folding is mandatory. You have Ace high.
