Tonight's the night we will crown our champion! It's the final event of the year, $50+1 NLHE Championship. Put all your posts regrading tonight's match in this thread. The leader on the points board will receive this fine trophy with their name engraved on it.

We're already planning for next year. Next week I will be setting up the 2005 schedule. We will again be awarding a trophy to the winner and this year we may have a sponser to pay for the hardware. More details on this to come before Christmas.

That's a sweet looking trophy, I wish I had played in more events.

In any case, I've signed up for this one, though I will likely arrive late. Go easy on my blinds.

I shall be there, and I will hope that all the leaders fall on there faces and I win this and the trophy /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am the current points leader for the NLHE rankings, so I will atleast attempt to bring that home.

I shall be absent tonight, meaning there will definitely be a new champ whatever happens.

It's the end of an era in more than one way, as this will be the first ever Kotz event that I have missed.

Good luck to everyone and thanks to all involved in running this for the last 18 months.

I don't think I can win the overall even if I somehow won the event tonight...between that and the fact that my bankroll has taken a major hit the past week is making me lean toward sitting this one out. I may get inspired later in the day, however /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Regardless, it has been a lot of fun this year, and I look forward to making a better run at being crowned king in 2005.

Can you show the top 10 or 20 players and there top 12 points, so those of us not in the top few spots know who to root against?

Can someone PM me the password for this one? Also can I be put on some type of list to just be automatically PMed the password for each tourney in the future so that I don't have to make this post everytime I want to play in one of these?

Let's do the sushi option.

I will also offer the same bounty. Knock out Vinny before me and you earn $10.

Sign up! There's only like 6 people so far. I need more than that between EMark and Vinny if I'm gonna win this thing /images/graemlins/smile.gif

At least I'll be gunning for Ohkanada and the no limit honors. There I at least have a chance!

Come on people this should be a good one!

Yeah, I'm afraid the $50 price tag might be a little too much for some people. I feared that might be a problem. I hope we get at least 20. 10 right now with half hour left.

Right now both Vinny and I need to finish in the upper half to improve our scores. I need a finish 11 or better to improve my overall score. Vinny needs to finish 14 or better to improve his overall score. If we both finish in the lower half, no matter who lasted longer, I will hold on to my lead. But if I finish 12th and Vinny finishes 14th, he would win. FMonti has an outside shot. Both Vinny and I have to finish lower than our cutoffs and Fmonti takes 2nd or better. If Vinny and I finish in lower half and Fmonti takes 2nd he'd beat me out 1317.3 to 1317.0. Kurn also has an outside shot, but he'd have to win it all to get by us leaders.

I went out 16th when I went all-in with 99 vs A8. A river A put me out. Now Vinny, the shortest stack, only had to finish 14th or better to take the lead. He went all-in with AQ vs KQc and looked in great shape. But two clubs on the flop and one on the turn sealed his fate and he left in 15th. I retain the lead 1317 to 1314.

Kurn can win, but he has to take first. FMonti also has a shot if he can take 2nd or better. Good luck to those who still have a shot at me.

Went out 3rd when I went all in with 77 against the leader Debaser's 66 and he caught a 6 on the flop...But I'll take being the overall champ and well surely find a prominent spot to showcase our trophy. Congrats to Debaser for winning tonights tournament and many thanks to Ed for a job well done. (Does this make me eligible to go 1 on 1 with Fossillman)? Kotz champ against Wsop Champ....

12-17-2004, 01:09 AM
Fmonti!! In a previous post I said he needed 2nd, but I forgot to add in the extra points he'd get for making the money. Since 3rd paid, that's all he needed and that's what he took. He ends up with 1342. I'm 2nd with 1317.

Fmonti is a deserving champion. He only played 13 events, but he moneyed five times, including a 1st place win in LHE. Tonight's 3rd place money finish was a fitting end and a great way to take the championship from me. He earned it. Congratulations!!

I will have the complete final standings sometime tomorrow.

CrackerZack
12-17-2004, 01:09 AM
I even got 2nd and unless i can't math good, that means I win the most money from the KotZ events. 9 entered, over 1k in cash. Sexy. It is a nice trophy, next year i'll try to make 12.

eMarkM
12-17-2004, 01:14 AM
You are indeed cash champion, and with only nine events. I've had you on my left in several of these games and God I hate it when I see you in that position at my table. Congrats on the money title.

Looks like I saved by luck quotient for the last event.

Seemed to hit all the right cards at the right times tonight - some absolute beauties, but I thought I played the table bully quite well in the end!

I'm chuffed to break my KotZ duck against such a strong field.

Congrats to fmonti for the overall win - well deserved after missing out on playing a few events.

Congrats to CrackerZack for hanging on tooth and nail with seemingly no chips to cash yet again tonight.

Big thanks to Ed for organising everything this year. I managed to make all but one of the tourneys despite them all being at 2am on a Friday morning and the effort he's put into it is staggering. Also, thanks to Simon for the website stuff.

Looking forward to starting again next year!

Congrts fmonti!

What an exciting down-to-the-wire finish.
Hollywood couldn't have scripted it any better.

I'll be interested to see if I somehow vaulted into the top 10 with my 11th place finish tonight.....but I had a lot of ground to cover.

See you in 2005 KOTZ'ers!!

Thanks to emark for simon for doing all the grudge-workery on this and getting the groovy trophy and possibly even getting sponsorship for next year.

jedi
12-17-2004, 01:28 AM
Well, I pulled a couple of boneheaded moves tonight. First making a steal raise against a moderate stacked opponent and then calling the rest of my chips with 2nd pair. Interestingly enough I was ahead, but not for long because I was against a flush draw and an overcard that hit on the river.

Then I called all-in with AQ against Choyce's 88. I've always said I'm good at playing a short stack, but I'm horrible at playing a big one. Urgh.

GG everyone. I enjoyed this year, being a big learning year for me. I moneyed a few times and in my SnG experience managed to go from the $5s early in the year to the $50s where I am now. Couldn't have done it without y'all.

Fmonti – awesome job, well done … more so, well deserved.
Emark – another awesome job. Thank you for all your hard work throughout the year.

This is a very fun year. I cannot explain how much I have learned plying in these. Winning was a big thing, but learning how to play at a better level has been the best part. Not true, learning the 78% rule has been the best part; you guys were a close second

MEBenhoe, maybe the funniest Zoo player of the Year! Hands down, period! Although it is something I will never ever do, at my age, what a great idea! Ben: When you are up to it, go watch any Christmas Show (Rudolph, Frosty) and every time the word Christmas, Santa, etc. is said, have a drink.

As stated, anyone going to AC in January, please feel free to let me know. I look forward to meeting up with you.
