View Full Version : HOSE tourney blind structure

How does the normal blind structure work for a HOSE (hold 'em, omaha 8, straight 7, s7 eight or better) tourney? We had some confusion at my weekly game last night when we scrapped our normal omaha latenite second event for HOSE. For the stud games, we ended up with an ante of 1/4 a small blind, with a low-card bring in for the same amount. For example, at the 200-400 sb/bb stage, everyone would ante 50, then the low card would bring in for another 50. Is this proper? How else is the blind stucture handled in tournies like this? Thanks for the help.

For the stud you just use the appropriate limit, and then you use the standard ante/force amounts for that limit.

For example, in 200-400 as played at Foxwoods, it is a 50 ante and a 75 force. If you're not sure what amounts to pick for a given limit, a good rule of thumb is to make the force 1/4 of the small bet, and the ante 1/8. However, for both you should round up to the appropriate chip. So, in a 150-300 game, the ante should be about 20, but you round up to 25. And the bring-in is rounded up to 50.

Don't ask me why you ante 50 in the 200 game, it should be 25 IMO. In fact, that is the reason I hate the 200 game.
