Whats yours?

Makers Mark and Water is great to sip on.

If I am getting hammered at a bar, J&B and coke or bombay saphire (sp) and tonic are usually pretty good choices.

As far as beer, Arrogant Bastard Ale from San Diego is pretty close to the nuts.

Guinness, Irish coffee (Bushmill's), small batch bourbon, Captain Morgan's and Coke, or any of the flavored Stoli vodkas with lemonade (especially strawberry). If I really want to do quick damage, I start with a car bomb or two.

Funny...I'm drinking a bottle of Double Bastard as I reply to this. (Similar to Arrogant Bastard, but 10% instead of 7%.) It's good stuff.

If it's made right, my favorite's a Manhattan. Ideally with Knob Creek, can be done right with Maker's, and I'll do one with Booker's from time to time.

Tanqueray's better than Sapphire for Gin & Tonic. Sapphire's better for martinis, but Hendrick's is better still.

If I'm out, and don't trust the bartender, I'll usually just go for Jack&Bitters. Not much of a fan of Jack neat unless I'm shooting it...just used to better whiskey. Somehow adding bitters to it makes it palatable.

Other possibilities:

Negroni
1:1:1 Sapphire:Sweet Vermouth:Campari, with a lemon peel twist

Sidecar
6:2:3 brandy:lemon:triple sec

Champagne Cocktail
sugar cube in a champagne flute, saturate with bitters. Add 3/4oz lemon juice, fill with brut champagne

Gibson w/Sapphire, dry
Same as a dry martini, but with onions instead of olives. I like adding bitters. I also add bitters to my Sapphire martinis.

...this is one subject I could talk about for a long, long time.

Arrogant Bastard may be Stone's nut non-seasonal, but the mortal nuts is their Imperial Stout (Early Summer).

As far as drinks go, the only problem is picking the gin to go along with the tonic. My personal favorite is Citadelle. Though it's French, it's still the best gin I've ever had (and for $30 per bottle, one of the most expensive)

Rum and Coke (captains is good, their private stock is better) or a jagerbomb, tough call. Possibly a Dark and Stormy.

Arrogant Bastard is good. I've only had it in one bar in Philadelphia in the big bottle. I've got dark and stormy ingerdients at home brought back from my cruise to Bermuda. I'll have to try the imperial stout.

You're paying way too much for your gin, unless that's for a 1.75L. Citadelle's not bad, but I still haven't found a drink where I wouldn't prefer either Tanqueray or Sapphire.

these days, plain old Jameson whiskey is my fav. drink -

JD seems tougher to drink these days....Jameson is a mellower drink.

It's on sale now for 26.99/750ml, the second most expensive Gin at my local liquor store (behind Van Gogh). Maybe I like it so much only because it's vastly different from the thousands of Sapphire/Tonics I've had.

Ding! Car bombs are the tits.

I don't tend to drink mixed drinks, because, well, next to a double scotch or a tequila, they're pretty gay. I usually drink beer (Sierra Nevada, Stella, Modelo Especial, etc etc) or sip on a nice scotch... been into the hot toddys with Jameson 12 year the last few days, too.

Never did get into gin.

car bombs are easily the best drink, but I still go for a regular beer as a default decision. I rarely drink liquor anyways, so I never get mixed drinks other than bombs.

I drank screwdrivers (when I wasn't drinking beer) almost exclusively in college. It allowed me to buy crappy vodka and mask it with the OJ.

Now, it's all Seattle microbrews and Anchor Steam. (With a shot of Cabo Wabo tequila thrown in here and there.)

How is it possible that I'm the first to mention Crown Royal? Absolutely the nuts with a little water or 7up or even straight up.

I'll also second whoever mentioned Arrogant Bastard Ale.

For straight alcohol, I usually drink Stoli (or Stoli Ohranj) with either 7up or soda water. The occasional Jager Bomb or Irish Car Bomb isnt bad either. I also like a good red wine, esp. Cabernets.

My personal preference would be dark ales and stouts, especially Belgian and English ones. I drank a bottle of Terrible's tonight (a Canadian brewed Belgian ale), and a bottle of Duvel.

For IPAs I usually drink Dogfish Head 60 minute or 90 minute IPA, which are terrific (Link) (http://www.dogfish.com/beer/90minuteipa.cfm) Never tried Arrogant Bastard Ale but will have to pick up a case this week. I also have a 6 pack of Red Dog in the fridge, lol.

Crown and coke if I want to make a tasty drink. If I'm trying to get shitty I'll usuallly drink Smirnoff vodka or Evan Williams Black.

For beer, my favorites are: Guinness, Shiner Boch, MGD, and Budweiser.

patron for a shot, b52 for a shooter, mount gay eclipse is the best rum in the world ( and cheap too) try it with tonic or sprite and a lime (take the coke out of your rum trust me) gin its a toss up between everything mentioned here except van gogh and sapphire make the best tinis. and finally not much beats guinness or a car bomb except maybe a good cabernet. guess i should try this arrogany bastard though i remember seeing it once or twice never tried it... your humble servant

Dogfish Head

[/ QUOTE ]
I'm gonna nominate Dogfish Head as the most absurd brewery ever. In San Diego, we received the ominously port-tasting Worldwide Stout of 2003 (18.8% ABV) and the hop-paradise that is the 120 minute IPA (24$ ABV) a couple of months later. Though they were $8 per 12 oz. bottle; I ended up picking up 12 of the stouts and 8 of the IPA's, all packed away for some time in the beer/wine cellar. Great genetically-enhanced brews!

Duvel

When not in the mood for a heavy beer but still wanna get tanked, this is without a doubt the nuts.

Mt. Gay is good, I'll grant you that, but best in the world!

If you've every had Pyrat Pistol (not "Pyrat XO" that is so prevelant) you would agree that is is the end-all of good rums. At $25-$30/375ml bottle, it's pricy, but it's in the same "oh my god" realm as Remy XO, Macallan 18, etc.

what!!!

Half a glass of guinness, and 1 shot with about 2/3 jameson and 1/3 baileyrs. You drop the shot in the guinness and pound the whole beer. Taste absurdly good.
