this hand took place in the first step of th PP steps tourney.
We were down to 6 out of twenty, only the top 4 advance and there is no difference in a 1st or 4th finish.
blinds 15/150
the stacks break down
Seat 2: bb ( $2785 )
Seat 3: Me utg ( $1870 )
Seat 6: ( $4280 )
Seat 7: ( $5455 )
Seat 8: button ( $3865 )
Seat 9: sb ( $1745 )
i was dealt Ks Ad and raised to 450 and only the BB called. The flop came (9h, 9c, 7h). I checked and he bet the minimum 150. I thought this was an attempt to get me to lay down since he thought i missed, and i was pretty sure he would trap with trips. I just called.
The turn brought 7c. wich looked scary but i actually thought helped, because it made any smaller pair worthless.
I checked and he bet 250. and i called once again. I was fairly confidant that my A kicker would at least spilt the pot.
the turn brought 5d, once again i checked, and he bet 400.
at this point I only had about 1100 chips and pushed. the main reason for the push was i thought he would lay down a splitting hand, anyway he folded and i was in good shape to free roll to step 2.
Although it worked out well, i don't like my play here but i can't put my finger on it. any thoughts as to what he had? my guess is ak,aq, or a small pair
