Toss up between Homer/MS Sunshine/Lorinda

They all contribute solid knowledge and generally stay away from the drivel.

Why reward them with the attention they desire?

Post of the Year - Lorinda's FAQ

Thread of the Year - Building bankroll by Homer

Poster of the Year - Microbob - he is always very helpful and answers in great detail. Others are also very helpful - Lorinda, Homer, Granny, Simon for KOTZ website, Ed/Mike Haven for KOTZ tourney work, Cubswin, etc.

Troll of the Year - Please don't provide the trolls the attention they crave or they will never go away!

Thank you,

Post of the Year : FAQs

Poster of the Year : probably Lori, largely because the FAQs tip the scale in an otherwise a close, crowded field ....

Am I the only person who is not a big fan of the sticky posts?

They take up valuable real estate on this forum. If you lurk without signing in, you only get to see 10 threads, and the top 2 are wasted on stickys.

Put a sticky in the Beginners forum if you want, and have links there to a "FAQs" thread for each forum if you want.

To me, it just takes up space in this forum. The content is good, but the location is not.

Thread of the Year: And it's not even close (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=498421&page=&view=&sb =5&o=)

Poster of the Year: Lori, Granny, and Homer. MicroBob will be in this list next year, if he has a 2005 like he had 4th quarter 2004. He's always posted quality stuff, but in the fairly recent past he's become quite funny. I think it's because he's finally played enough hands where poker has instilled a certain silly cynicism. MS Sunshine is another poster I'd normally include, but his quantity just wasn't there this year.

Troll: Mary/PokerScene/Cyndie/Panace50. Pure, incompetent, slime.

I agree entirely with post and thread of the year, it all makes me laugh even now.

Posters of the year are too many to name.

Fave troll is Bdids, his IRC spamming makes me giggle every time.
Your troll of the year needs some kind of mention, but I can't think of a printable category for her to win.(Some stray children might drop by.)

Spamming- Huh?

I think I've been involed in like three discussions about IRC. Once (in three forums I guess, only because I wanted to make sure nobody missed it) to tell people why they might not regularly be able to get on- and twice because people were bitching in here.

I invite anybody to go through my posts and find instances where I've trolled anybody.

I realize you're trolling me, and that I'm sure you're getting satisfaction by the fact that I'm responding. I guess job well done, 'cause I can't make myself ignore this like I should.

Whilst I have always encouraged constructive critisism, and I don't even deny that I'm a lunatic, finding this tucked away where you thought I didn't look rather than saying something in the zoo might have something to do with your nomination.

Of course, you didn't have the guts to say it in this thread where I might have read it.

lorinda is a lunatic who doesn't belong on any list of good posters.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can concur that Lori has some not-so-sane moments. However, Lori has a trait that at least 85% of 2+2ers are lacking. Lori can think for herself. Way too many people here subscribe to a hive mentality, and when faced with facts that contradict what the hive leaders say, they deteriorate into completely illogical babbling.

Lori is one of the few really good posters left around here, and writing like this about her speaks volumes about the author.

B Dids
12-15-2004, 08:20 PM
Umm... you realize that's in OTT. 90% of that forum is "offensive" by your definition. If you wanted a better trolling post- I suggested that somebody be killed by fire yesterday.

I'm pretty sure you read that OTT post when I first made it, and I assumed you would (and if you just got lucky and found the one post I've made referencing out out of the near 2000 posts I've made, I'm impressed). I'm not trying to "hide" anything. Yeah- I think you're a lunatic. I'm also not going to waste my time or pollute the zoo by sharing that I feel that way.

Anybody with a sense of perspective can see what's going on, and I've given this far too much attention anyway. Done with this nonsense.

"Finally" is right. Certainly took me long enough.

Thanks for the mentions. Very flattering.

I think this is a tough call....Lori abandoned us for that Big Brother thing when I think the Zoo needed her the most.
I have since forgiven (even though I hate almost ALL reality-TV) but not necessarily forgotten!

MS-Sunshine has mostly been missing-in-action the 2nd half of this year but has had some REALLY good posts including his info on notes and rating-system and his general methods. I think I learn as much from MSSunshine's posts as anyone.

Cubswin (whom I'm surprised I haven't seen mentioned) has had some great posts too and is easily the most knowledgeable and well-infomred on the leagal situation in internet-poker and goes WAY out of his way to keep everyone updated.
While there's not much discussion about this in some of his 'News of the Week' threads I think they could actually turn out to be some of the most important posts later down the road (as I'm sure he'll re-hash much of the info as the situation develops and warrants).

Homer's had some REALLY good posts. Although, the streaks-graphs post was originally in the SS forum several months ago...so does a quality re-run count??
I think Homer's info on casino-whoring and building a bank-roll might put him over the top and he would be my nominee.
But it's a VERY close call.

Post of the year is either Homer's Building a Roll or Lori's FAQ or the whole pattern-mapping thing or the empire-500 fiasco.
I'll go with the FAQ just for the important role it fills.

My Dad just sent me an e-mail that his golfing buddy (who thinks he's decent at poker) wants to play on the internet and asked him to get my recommendations. I gave him the general stuff (Party for ring-games, Stars is best for tourneys imo and for micro-limits...set up a neteller acct) and then I told him to tell his friend that he can also go to twoplustwo, then internet-forum, then the FAQ.

That kind of stands out in my mind as making it a very important post....it has SO MUCH info that almost all fairly new internet players really NEED to know.

I think it was marginally more important than my own 'Cat Sat on my Computer' post (which received a Post of the Year nomination within the thread btw).

I'll agree that Ryan is troll of the yr.

Comeback poster of the year might be Lebronomania....who seemed to be a bit trollish early in his career but has made quite a few decent posts in his return.

I know this may be unpopular but the post of the year for me anyways was the original Empire 500 bonus code. It turned out to be a disaster afterwards, BUT not for everyone. There's lots of people who did get the $500 bonus this I know for a fact (if you know what I mean, hint hint, wink wink)......and some even got their bonus after it was taken back from 90% of the players.

2+2 has been helpful to me, lots of great information and all but this was THEE first post on this forum that actually paid imediate dividends for me....if you know what I mean.

poster of the year for me is MicroBob. I do enjoy reading his posts. Some are pretty deep and thought provoking and it does give a glimpse of what's it like to play for a living.

I think he should post a blog. I think a lot of people would be interested and follow his journal. If I was playing for a living I would definately be posting a blog too. It's a great way to stay focused, plus it's fun.
As I am right now I hardly have time to get a few hours of pooker in everyday.

I can't think of a post off the top of my head, but I'd say Microbob for poster of the year. Watching his evolution as a player and poster over the last year has been really enjoyable and I've learned to steer clear of him at the tables (luckily I don't believe he knows my my user name, so I have a slight advantage those times the game is too juicy to leave).

1. The FAQ is good, also like the No Affiliate post by Mat.

2. Pattern Map, or Empire 500.

3. Micro Bob - no contest.

4. Troll of the Year: Steven Punk.

Explaination: This forum often misuses the term "troll" in my opinion. Troll has to do with the intent of the poster, not the reader's reaction. In other words, a troll has an ulterior motive and is trying to get a response from another for an unstated reason.

Here, this forum tends to label a poster that is unpopular, stupid, naive or commonly disagreed with a "troll." For example, Gabbyyyy is not a troll (unless her whole persona is a put on). Gabbyyyy is a genuine poster who is a number of things (combative, stupid, funny, pathetic, etc.) but, it is all sincere.

Cyndie, on the other hand, was a troll. She presented issues and "help" but only because she was trying to steer customers her way. She does not qualify for this year, however, because she practically closed up shop at the end of 2003.

Humorous posters/characters. These types of posters cannot be trolls, because the purpose is clearly presented ... they are there as a joke. Since you cannot take the joker seriously, there is nothing for the poster to be "trolling." Ice Man is a good example: he always stayed in his character, and it was obvious he was not a serious poster. That is not a troll ... its a humorous character.

Gregorio/Tyfromm: Was a troll, in fact he was the personification of the troll. He started by copying and bumping other people's threads, and made it his purpose to bother people. However, despite the creativity of his bumping technique, he was not creative or subtle in his trolling technique. In fact, once his named became locked in as Tyfromm, he became non-troll and often contributes humorous posts. "He" would be troll of the year if not for Punk.

TT is like Andy Kaufmann for the Zoo. He was pushing the envelope and getting people to react strongly to seemingly innocuous posts. Although Steven Punk is/was a humorous character, he was created with many subtle trolling techniques.

For example: the simple mispellings of the purported noble man. Countless times posters would go out of their way to correct the spellings and debate punk on trivial issues, all the while, TT intended such a reaction.

To take it further, many posters went out of their way to "track" TT and his characters and otherwise waste their time. In fact, TT invited and expected such reactions, thus he was trolling in high style.

So, I vote Steven Punk as troll of the year.

Also, I would like to state that I appreciate the humor and good nature of 2000 Flushes, ArchAngel, Thomas Tem, Bump-en-Stein (and friends), Husker, Something Clever, AstroGlide and william (wherever he went). I read this forum primarily for the information, but I like to laugh as well.

I can't believe no one mentioned this yet. It was early in the year, so like Oscar candidates those early releases tend to be forgotten.

Thread of the Year, Can Party Poker 4th and 5th street cards be predicted? (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=498421&page=&view=&sb=5&o =&fpart=1&vc=1), aka Pattern Map. Ulysses started the fire storm on the top of page 2.

That hoax was so elaborate, yet completely spontaneous, so it seemed plausible. It sucked so many people in and spawned many sub-threads for months and in fact spread beyond IG and 2+2 into internet legend. You can still do a search on "pattern map" in the past few weeks and see posts on it.
