Liar Liar is on TV right now...instead of saying "I [censored] her brains out!" the guy said "I kissed her brains out!"

Here are two other classic examples:

Police Academy X (can't remember which one)

Instead of: Drop that stereo or I'll blow your God damn nuts off [censored]! It said: Drop the stereo or I'll blow your gosh darn knees off egg roll!

And from Major League: Strike this mother fucker out! became Strike this guy out! (Guy was in a ridiculously different voice)

i recall the tv edit of fast times having lots of horribly dubbed edits, but the best part was they ADDED a scene because the movie was so short. it's a bathroom scene, AND IT INVOLVES CURSING. so they overedited, had to add a scene, and the scene needed editing. it involves spicoli calling somebody a "fuzzy nerd".

Guy is also pronounced in a very slow way like Guuuuuuuyyyyy... when I am watching baseball and hoping for a strikeout I always imitate this ridiculous voice.

I actually have seen this and remember it, though I doubt most people would clue in on your reference. They'd probably just think you're weird.

one time i was watching back to the future 2 on USA or something like that. it was the scene where biff and the gang are chasing marty around the town square and biff's car ends up driving into that manure truck.

anyway, they show a closeup of biff and he spits some manure out and is supposed to say "i'm gonna get that son of a bitch"

but in the tv edit, for some reason they edited out "son of a" and biff just said, "i'm gonna get that bitch". it was very very funny /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Goodfellas edited for tv is usually pretty funny. Almost anything with Joe Pesci guarantees some random bad editing.

In Spain I saw Malibu's Most Wanted dubbed in Spanish. They couldn't translate anything for "nigga" so they just used "tio" which is closer to dude. Half the jokes in the movie didn't even make sense after that.

The best is in Casino when they are out in the desert and Pesci is talking to Dinero. Instead of you JEW MUDDA FUCKAH, he says, you JEW PENNY PINCHER YOU...I piss myself every single time I hear that.

The dumbest one I can remember is Breakfast Club:

Original line: Eat my shorts
Edited line: Eat my socks

The more I think about it, the more I understand it. Shorts is a pretty bad word.

In the first addition, J.S. is smoking a joint while sitting on the toilet (just sitting). He is talking to the Eric Stoltz character, and he hits his head with his Vans slipon saying, "I'm so wasted."

In the tv edit, he is eating an apple.

J.S. calls Mr. Hand a dick. In the tv version, he calls him a nerd.

I don't watch movies on network TV for this reason.

badly dubbed, often ridiculous, dialogue spoken by some barely competent impersonator just plain sucks!

and don't get me started on Pan and Scan...

Awesome...instead of swearing they insert a stereotype...if he had said penny pincher in the movie they'd probably have edited that to something else.

It's just nauseating makes some movies just unwatchable.

up here you can get away with a bit more...

"f*ck" is fine (or at least it was, I've haven't watched a movie on a non-premium channel in years) in late night movies on CityTV and is left unedited... however, they won't let you get away with "motherf*cker"... so they edit out "mother"

Perhaps even better from Major League is the scene where Vaughn and Dorn are fighting in the clubhouse. Watching this on TV is absolutely hilarious.

I always thought that movies felt like movies because I saw them in a theatre, big screen, big sound, the whole environment. Movies on TV just never felt the same... until I bought my DVD player, and I realized how much Pan&Scan ruins the 'epic' feel of watching a movie. Watching a movie in widescreen, even on my 36" tv feels like watching a movie.

It works for everyday situations also, not just watching baseball...next time you say or hear mother fucker, just substitute guuuuuuuuyy.

GF was watching Cruel Intentions last week:

"I f'd your daughter" became "I punched your daughter"

Try substituting "punch" for the f-word in your own daily conversation.
