well, after a long day of playing solid poker (finished 17/600 in a 10$ nl earlier after losing 3/4 my chips by misclicking raise (i minraised a 5x bb raiser with 44 with my big stack vs a medium stack) committing my self and getting beat by AK with a board of 66995, i decide to enter the 20$ NL. Two hours in im doing very well, above avg stack havent made any mistakes yet. then this hand comes up.

now, after one limper, the big stack raises 9x BB. not really sure what to think here but i definitely dont think he has me beat. i shove (which i believe to be the right play with 2300 in the pot and i have 5.5 im not minding a fold and picking up another 3/5 to add to my stack, or a call besides AA) , hoping he will call with his lower PP or Ax, then SB call and big stack call. not really much to it besides the fact that im sure the odds of this are extremely slim. never have seen this before but just wanted to share it and see if anyone else thinks the shove is a bad play PF. if i had just called it might have been different, SB pushing and huge stack at least calling (probably shoving) and im faced with the call which i most likely would have done. what would you all have done in this situation?

I don't think there's much to do about this here... Only AA beats you preflop, and you don't have very many chips to raise for info. Watch out for AA overbets, though, they seem to be happening much more often. I don't know that I would ever fold KK preflop in a cash game, but even if it's only Ax that he has, you have the 30% chance of losing all your chips if you get pot committed in that hand, which you will be, unless you just call preflop and fold to an ace on the flop.

This happened to me once in a cash game at home, I had KK vs. AA and QQ, the flop came all clubs and I had the Kc; QQ folded but AA had the Ac and I lost the hand.

haha, so now today, its my QQ vs AK vs AA all in preflop, same tournament same exact situation all were big stacks at the table.. this time however i was on the button, middle position raised to 600 with the blinds 75/150, i re raised to 1k, big blind calls (guy with KK) middle position shoves. i should have gotten the hell out at this point. no reason to gamble at this point in the tourney with 170 left and an above avg stack..guess im overvalueing high PP esp. preflop. oh well lesson learned /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
