minimum big blinds to steal

let's say it folds around to you in the cutoff position. you have 10 j suited and want to raise 3 times the big blind, but will lay it down to a reraise. what is the minimum amount of big blinds that you are willing to do this with, without feeling crippled after the hand.

i have been caught stealing recently with 12 big blinds to start and feel crippled afterward.
