6 Tables - 1 Monitor - No Overlap: Possible?

I think the Subject line says it all. I'm 4-tabling now using the 17" CRT that came with the PC and it's not too hideous at 1600x1200. I do not have room for a 2nd monitor and I think I'd have a brain meltdown playing 8 tables. So 6 looks like the max I'd ever want to try.

Is there such a beast out there, reasonably priced? (or cheapest option if there is one)

I have a Dell Dimension 4400 with a 64 MB GForce card.

Absolutely *beautiful* monitor, as I can attest to - I just got one a few weeks ago. Only problem: That is a 4-table monitor - there is no way you can hit 6 tables/no overlap with it. (Max resolution is 1920x1440, at that is at 60Hz.) Minimum resolution for 6-table/no overlap is either a 2400 horizontal resolution or a 1800 vertical resolution. Heck, even the Sony can't hit that resolution.

Each window is 800x600, so 2400x1200 would do 6.

2048x1536 can get you a pretty comfortable 6-table setup:

It's possible - but your gonna ruin your eyes beacuase everything is going to be real small unless the monitor is humungous!

EDIT: hmm that page shows it as 1600x1200 I think. But under settings it definetly goes up to 2048.

I used to own the Sony GDM-FW900, it's the most beautiful display I've ever seen.

This is the exact same model monitor I purchased last month.
$280 or so (with shipping) and I saw 2050x1530 and I said "Hooray....this is what i want!!"

Unfortunately, upon receiving it I learned that my laptop will not support higher than 1600x1200 on the extrernal monitor....and I have been told (by the fine folks at Comp USA) that there is nothing I can do about it because you can't change the graphics capabilities on a laptop...even for the external monitor which I didn't know.


If there is some kind of graphics card I can incorporate into the laptop to make my external monitor go up to 2050x1530 somebody PLEASE let me know.

Otherwise, I'll probably splurge on a cheap desk-top system that can support whatever kind of graphics card I need to be able to do this.

Still....I have 1600x1200 on my Viewsonic...and 1400x1000 on my laptop screen and that's good enough for now.

But I was REALLY looking forward to doing 2050x1530 and was disappointed to learn that I wasn't able to.

2048x1280 at 60hz, "thousands" of colors. If you have another external monitor, get this and you can run 3 displays /images/graemlins/smile.gif

This was the first one I found, you need a PCMCIA video card, there's probably one out there that will do 20x15.

I do have another monitor actually. I had an old 1200x800 that I got for $50 and was using up until I got the Viewsonic last month.
That would be REALLY freaking cool to have my 3 monitors going at 2050x1530, 1400x1000 and 1200x800.

My GF will come over and think I've gone out of my freaking mind when she sees the set-up.

The VTBook video-card you linked to costs around $250 but I think I would be willing to pay the price for 3 monitors plus 2050x1530 on one of them.

Hope it wouldn't overheat my laptop or anything....but they claim it will not be TOO much of a drain.

No, that VTBook is a PCMCIA video card. It's the first one I found, there might be cheaper/better alternatives out there. Note that it does 2050x1280, not the res you're looking for.

I've never used a PCMCIA video card, I just know that this is probably the only upgrade that will do what you need.

It's $250 on 2 different sites. I'm on hold with one of the dealers to ask a couple Q's....but I think I'm going to order one now.

What monitor are you using? Make sure it will do 2048x1280.

I'm using the same monitor that benholio showed in his screen-shot. The viewsonic Pro series P95f+.

I guess I assumed that if it did 2050x1530 that it would also do less.
We'll see. In the very least, it will support 2 external monitors so I think it will be pretty cool.

I might not like the 1900x1200 anyway (assuming it will do that....and might eventually set up a couple of LCD flat-panel's with it or something.

So....even if I can't get to the res I want I think this little device will come in handy in some way or other.

Good lord! I can't believe you run at a resolution that high on a 19" CRT. 1900*1400 is almost too small for me on my 21".
