I busted someone out of an SNG with a nut flush to his king high flush. I typed in "that's what you get for playing weak flushes." He started cussing at me like crazy. Other people at the table were getting on me about it for the rest of the SNG. I kept explaining it was a joke, but they said it wasn't a good joke.

People are generally not in a joking mood when they've busted out with a King high flush.

Now if you were the one who had busted out with a King high flush, and you had said "that's what I get for playing weak flushes," then they might have appreciated the humor.

An expensive lesson I learned at work - if you are not sure how your audience will take it - don't tell the joke.

While it might have been funny on a table filled with 2+2ers who know you and that you would be joking, it is seen as egotistical and rude to say it in a room of strangers.

Funny is a one-way street sometimes....

Turn chat off and listen to Bill Hicks "Dark Poet" if you can't play without lame poker humor.

Who cares? They are all a bunch of fish anyway.

Didn't bother me. Just a good story.

two things:

1) a while back someone posted a favorites quotes thread and one quote offered some advice you may want to follow: "don't tap the aquarium."

2) I think your quote was great and I hope you won the table and closed with: "that's what you get for having no sense of humor."

p.s. Does this mean I should stop playing 8,3 sooooted?

Yeah, one of those things like "serves you right for playing crappy cards" But like, don't bring that up to them. One of the things about poker is you don't want people mad at you. If everyone is happy, people are more willing to give you $$$.

Words can hurt . . . which is why I say in this situation, "Mine is bigger."
