View Full Version : Should I have folded this straight flush?

And what do you think about me leading out? I wasn't sure what his all in meant. Obviously I am hoping for the Ace of Clubs, but won't most players, even at this level, semi bluff the nut flush draw on this board? So is the only logical thing to lay it down? I couldn't bring myself to law down a SF.

All comments appreciated.

From the tone of your post, it's obvious he had the nine, it sucks, and you want some validation in your call...

And no, I would definitely not lay it down.

No, I wouldn't mind going out with a straight flush, even if it is the sucker side.

Er....no? You get reraised with the A, K, and probably the Q here.

Your opponent could as easily have the T-A of clubs rather than the 9 with such an allin. Frankly, the times you will end up having a straight flush are so small such a decision probably isn't all that important in the long run. Not to mention that you probably can't ever be making too much of a mistake always getting your $$ in the middle with a straight flush no matter the situation.

If your opponent does have the better straight flush, then it's simply time to bring up the next SNG, /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Rule of thumb: never fold 4 of a kind of better.

I didn't really look at the post too carefully, but no. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I called because I figured that the 9 of clubs would be unlikely to push. He is also went insta all in which heightened my suspicions further.

Villain: shows [3s Jc] (a flush, Jack high) !!!!!!!

I was surprised by the user who said that anyone with the Ace, King or Queen of trump would be raising all in. Even if I had the Ace of Clubs, I would play for a cheap showdown on this board. Raising surely won't get a better hand to fold, and it is hard to see many worse hands calling.

I must say, its refreshing to see a hand posted on here where the poster actually won and just wanted to see if it was the correct play anyways. It seems to be very rare on these boards.

Your logic is 100% correct, but it simply doesn't apply at your buyin. Don't give your opponents too much credit.

That is an easy fold. Don't you know better than to risk all of your chips with such a weak hand? /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yeah, you did the right thing all the way, as I see it. Amazing how strong leading out with a strong hand can be at times, even at the PP $55 and $109 SNGs. So many people just assume if you're not slow-playing when a pair or three flush is on the board that you can't have the nuts.
