The only reason it seems boring is because it has less n00b features in it like banshees, rocket homming, swords, duel weilding, ext. Halo 1 rewards skill (headshots) and has a mid range weapon to branch the sniper with smg. It is a classic and does not get old. halo 2 is a n00b game thats why it is more entertaining for the short term cassual player.

Here is my take on Halo vs Halo 2. The biggest problem with the original is that the pistol was just about the best gun in the game... a pistol. However, Halo 2 is missing a gun with the same effect as the pistol. I think the assault riffle (which sucks) should have had the same action in Halo 2 as the pistol held in the original.

Anyone beat Halo 2 co-op on legendary. It's pretty hard. I peronally suck at the game, but I watched as 2 friends beat Halo 2 on legendary within 30 hours of playing time. One of them was the best Halo player I've ever seen. He's currently getting better at Halo 2, but not nearly the same level as before.

Well. I think halo 2 is more balanced. Whether or not that makes it better is up to your opinion. There are some serious issues on some of the 2 maps, like trying to play anything but 2 flag ctf on gluch (coagulation) now is utterly ridiculous. I think they made the outdoor/indoor levels a helluva lot better to where it's not entirely spawn camping,

Halo 1 was played on a much higher level than Halo 2 will ever be. Cheap kills? I assume you are talking about the rocket. Yes it is easy to kill people with it but to obtain it you must CONTROL it, that is where tons of skill comes into play its about map control. I don't know whats cheaper then camping around a corner waiting for a red blip to show up on your radar then slash somebody with the noobstick just as they turn the corner for the easiest kill ever.

And for camping please enlighten me on these dominante camping spots you speak of. In Halo 1 I will let you start out in your favorite camping spot and I will come in and destroy it. If its the telefragging that you are talking about you are jsut a bad player because nobody ever uses the teleport. You want camping play CTF or ASSult on Zanzbar. Defence- get in the base with rocket, Congrats! you get a tie!

Because the game is balanced and everybody starts with a pistol. Unlike starting with a smg.

It is because levels 1-12 your losses dont hurt you as much as wins help you. I think it counts against you like a 1/2 loss or something. But there are many horrible people even up at the 14 15 16 range.

I know i am jumping into the halo 1 vs halo 2 argument extremely late (plus theres no way im reading this entire post), but i had to get in on it. Ogre and i fight over which one is better everytime it gets mentioned. First of all, Halo 1, not including no xbox live, had just as good of gameplay FOR ITS TIME than halo 2. Now Halo 2 came out which has equal value gamplay for its time, so currently halo 2 is better than halo 1. Plus halo 2 has xbox live. Halo 1 was almost entirely skill oriented with very little variety. There we 3 good maps: chillout, hangem', and bloodgulch. Halo 2 on the other hand has all good maps IMO besides Waterworks and Headlong. Halo 2 takes just as much skill, they just made teamwork just as crucial. People who say they made the game "n00b" cant really talk when STK is still on top, but they do. First things first, the new weapon. The sword is not overpowered. You can make it obsolete if you just stay out of places it wants to encounter you in (lockout upper battle rifle tower). The rocket hasn't changed besides lock-on, which makes it so that vehicles aren't overpowered. Which takes us to vehicles, all ranked game vehicles are plasma weapons except for the hog, which takes TWO people and is an easy kill with the rocket or a plasma grenade. THE PISTOL IS STILL GOOD. Dual pistols (not impossible to get, pistols are normally in pairs on maps) drop people faster than any other weapon besides the power weapons (rocket, sniper, sword). Yes they take just as much if not more skill than in Halo 1. First of all you have very few shots so you cant just spam bullets everywhere, you have to be accurate. They also take precise timing for optimal accuracy or else they kick like mad (just like halo 1 pistol). THE SNIPER DOES NOT HAVE AUTO AIM. Jeff claims it does because there is a realistic delay on distance shots where you have to slightly lead them. A perfect example is trying to snipe a vehicle or trying to snipe someone on Coagulation. Nows where my brothers annoying old friend comes into my room and i lose track about where i was and what i have covered... If i missed anything that you think makes halo 1 better, enlighten me...

PS: Dave is not clever for quitting halo 2 right when it came out. I admit, i didnt like it when it came out very much either. I mean who would when you had a single SMG and you didnt know where any good weapons spawned (incredibly frustrating), but HE CANT HAVE XBOX LIVE IN HIS DORM. So obviously he is not going to give it a chance if he cant even play in his dorm. Dave, your a clon...

Looks like your still debating... lets not start making things up now, i think were a little older than that... First of all dave advised me on maybe 2 sessions, and he's YOUR BROTHER. also i believe i have the most profit/tourney out of us currently. And the last MTT's we played in, you were not ITM (hard to go 3-0 with your last 2 games as losses). Not to mention you any respectable poker player knows that 3 tourneys mean nothing and that you are clearly trying to bring up pointless things, anything that might support your debate, but that wont fly around here.
