I generally make my new year's resolution in the month of July, that gives me a few months to practice and fail what I want to accomplish before it really counts.

That said I am beginning my quest soon, and normally I keep my goals to myself, that way when I don't follow through there is no one to bitch at me. However, it's time for me to be held a little more accountable for my goals so I am going to post periodically (as other's do) regarding my progress (or lack thereof) towards what I am trying to accomplish.

This is an exercise in bankroll building. I already know to win, the issue is in keeping the money. Being that my full time job pays my bills comfortably (most of the time) any money I win playing cards is mad money I will inevitably blow on something stupid. I have a real discipline problem with this concept and I need to be bitched at to keep me in line.

The quest has no real destination, it's really just to see how much money I can accumulate over 6 months time playing my normal game. If I had to set a goal that's lofty yet attainable, I am going to say $15k is where I'd like to be.

OK now the parameters:

I am starting with $100. The idea is to not add any money from my job to my bankroll, and to not blow any cash from my bankroll on dumb [censored] like child support, rent, yaknow useless crap /images/graemlins/cool.gif that's what my job is for.

I am going to play limits online that are within my bankroll. Although my job affords me extra income that allows me to play higher limits than a $100 bankroll would normally sustain, I want to stay true to the plan and build a bankroll 'the old fashioned way'.

Bonus whoring will be employed whenever possible.

The 'local' indian casinos spread a variety of games all the way from 3-6 up to 20-40, all of which can be pretty juicy at the right times... occasion trips (the closest one is 88 miles away) to the casinos will be employed when bankroll permits.

Online and B&M (home) tournaments will be played, more of a stress-relief, recreational type activity more than a bankroll building endeavor.

I regularly host a home game (where I usually get drunk and lose money); 1-2 PL dealer's choice game with about 6-8 players, including a couple of 2+2ers and a few loose cannons we like to have in our game. I will continue to host regularly as bankroll permits.

Any thoughts, flames, encouragement, belittlement, or any other well thoughtout replies are welcome. This post is more just to keep me honest about where I am at as a player.

More to come.

Current bankroll: $100

What limits do you plan on playing at once you have a sufficient bankroll?

Thanks for the replies.

Right now I am trying to stay true to a 300 BB guideline, I've always cheated in that regard, I have had success playing higher limits, as my job can always replenish my roll should I happen to bust out.

Currently I am on the .50/1.00 HE on Party (usually I play 3-6 or 5-10), I also plan to play some baby NL and PLO8, but really just as a break front the grind, not so much to build the bankroll.

Good Luck with your challenge as well.

You're going to need at least $115 (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=plnlpoker&Number=736918&Fo rum=All_Forums&Words=&Searchpage=0&Limit=2500&Main =736918&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=5790&datera nge=1&newerval=1&newertype=y&olderval=5&oldertype= m&bodyprev=#Post736918) for a challenge like this. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good luck to you and I hope it goes very well for you. FWIW, the guy in that link has done quite well for himself since that post.

Update # 1

Played roughly 7 hours of .50/1.00 limit HE on PP yesterday and one $6 NLHE SNG (lost). Roughly 700 hands (including the SNG I think). Bankroll is at $119 -$6 = $113 ... +$13 or 1.85BB/100 hands. Not great but at least I am not stuck. What the hell else did I have better to do on a Sunday afternoon anyhow?

This morning I jumped on for 2 hours, played 233 hands of .50/1.00. Had a very nice rush of solid playable hands, I saw the flop 27% of the time including the blinds. Had AA 4 times, which means I won't get them again until Memorial Day but thats ok /images/graemlins/wink.gif

In two hours this morning I made $62 Bringing the bankroll total to $175. Stats for this morning's session +62 BB or 26.6BB/100 Hands. That's more like it!!!

More to come.
