Jeez, after all this time using spyware, adware, and virus protection, and having it sort of work, then go back to slow, I have finally found the solution to my wacky computer problems.

REGISTRY MECHANIC.

I'm no tech guy, so don't think poorly of me for not knowing this sooner.

You can download a version that won't really do much for you at www.download.com (http://www.download.com) and then pay for it and register it so that it will function well.

Best $29.95 I've spent in a long time. Smooth sailing now. Yeehaw.

Goddamnit. Thanks a lot. Well, I guess I don't begrudge everyone else, even if I have had the misfortune to be unaware of Mr. Paulino's existence until, well, just a little on the late side.

Anyway, I assume that this means that you are familar with, and approve of, Registry Mechanic? Please tell me there's not a problem of some sort that will suddenly preclude it from operating in so effective a fashion as to make me post here at 2+2 about it.

What was I saying?

Anyway, anything I should know about it?

No. However my computer has been rather laggy lately, and so I figure it would be a good idea to try and DL this and get it for free.

Ok, then. What I'm thinking is that much of the spyware/adware has become sophisticated enough to infiltrate your registry and evade detection by the blockers currently on the market. The Registry Mechanic seems to have taken care of those for me.

Does this sound about right, or should I just continue with my usual "I don't know HOW it works, or WHY it works, I just know THAT it works" mentality?
