View Full Version : A 8
a friend of mine tells me he won fifth in a t. he said on the last round he played he had a8, a9 and a7. i thought he should have been raising in unraised pots.he thought these were weak hands and was trying to get higher in the money. over l00 entries. no other info.
You mean that he let himself be blinded away instead of moving in on those hands??? Or, worse yet, called and then folded to a raise or flop bet? 5-handed, any of those is a legetimate hand to open-raise with and he might very well have won the thing, had he played properly.

He didn't necessarily need to raise every time, but considering he probably had a tight image, he should have at least played it stronger a couple of times.
Takes some work, though, if he's not used to doing so. Just suggest to him he start easing into playing those stronger when it's short-handed and/or he's got a good read on the competition.
