Just graduated today. Feels great to be done. I wonder if it will help my poker game? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

They give out MBAs at FAU? That must not stand for what I think it does. Majored in Being an [censored]?

Hey, me too. Had my last class last night -- that's my last class, ever, for the rest of my life. Pepperdine University, by the way.

I know it will help my poker game, because I'll get to discover what free time is like again!

It probably won't help your poker game but I'll bet it'll do wonders for your BR.

Congratulations,

I've been thinking about returning to school and getting my Masters too. But I don't want to be a TA and I think being a TA is part of the requirements.

Well, you are going to have to start playing poker to cover that Pepperdine bill.

Congrats, but any less time spent on Pepperdine's campus can't be a good thing.

Not necessarily. Often TA-ships are packaged with funding. For example, you might receive 16k of funding per year, but 6.5k of that might be guaranteed TA hours. If you don't need funding to go to school, it's not often an issue, because there are typically not enough TA hours to go around.

Caveat: This is what I know about Queens and SFU, and what I've heard from the grad/PHD students I am friends with at other schools. IIRC, UBC is the same.
