Most poker web pages have various different promotions that they put out to attract new players. Sites like UB and Pokerstars that already have established themselves in the online world have toned down quite a bit on the benefits they give their players. Generally these sites also harbor a lot of the more seasoned online players and the competition is at times much harder than it would be on a newer online poker room.
