People go after they've used up most of the utility of the other forums?

I recently started coming here since reading the other forums just does not take much time any more (I mean there really are not a ton of new things being discussed, rather mostly just themes that seem repeated by players working their ways up through the various levels of poker thinking).

Is this the forum people post in when they don't think they can contribute to other forums but still want to be active?

Is this the forum where people make the "addict" to "Carpal\'Tunnel" trek?

Or is this just the forum where people who like to over analye over analyze non gambling topics?

Not to mention people that have been berated for being overly sarcastic in the other forums. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The OOT forum is a cool place. I think you nailed a lot of the reasons people post here.

Personally, I seem to end up in every forum, but I tend to gravitate towards this one a lot of the time. Sometimes the poker discussion really heads south on a lot of the other forums, so I head back to OOT.

There is a lot of traffic here, and it's usually more interesting than the 5,000th "OMG, look at THIS bad beat!" thread. I would say about 2/5 of my "trek" to carpal tunnel happens in this forum.

You? Never! /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'm sometimes guilty of the same thing, but I rarely get criticized for it. Not really sure why. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

yes, but I think this is also where people go when they are tired of people arguing over semantics, or where people go when they are tired of hearing bad beat stories, or where people go when they are tired of reading hand histories. At times the other forums suck so much in comparison to this one, it isn't even funny.

Yes to all of your questions.

What was it that someone called the OOT the other day....the pickles, pets and porn forum? That about sums it up.

The other thing is that this forum is better than most of the "general" types of forums on most other sites. For the most part, the overall quality of posters here is pretty high when compared to other forums out there on the internet. I would much rather discuss OT stuff here than anywhere else.

This is also the forum where you get to discuss TSC's dating habits (or lack thereof), restuarant choices, poker skills (again or the lack of thereof), etc...

[/ QUOTE ]I totally agree. I use to venture on over to this hip hop forum(still do at times), but most of the posters on here are just as knowledgable but with less attitude /images/graemlins/shocked.gif, and I have found the same to be true for many other categories on here.

I just got bored with the other forums. You can only discuss the same hands so many times before you get bored. Sometimes I feel bad I don't post in the micro or SS forums more because that is where I learned to play and I feel like I should give back. I just really don't enjoy discussing hands anymore. So instead I come to the OOT forum and it is fun and interesting with a wide range of topics. I spend about 80% of my 2+2 time on this forum. Plus I like that this forum isn't heavily moderated. It makes for better discussion IMO. About the only thing that really ticked me off was that someone posted the tubgirl pic within the thread. Some of us read at work and that wasn't cool at all.

I usually use this forum to post random thoughts that entertain me....there is normally one or two time a day when I literally laugh out loud with some of the ideas that float around in here.

Someone just posted a thread entitled "Clonie G -- eye candy or great poker player - or both?" on the WPT forum. I responded that they had not business posting that thread without a pic! I was informed I should look on Google. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That's why I'm on OOT, where I know no one would have made said post without a decent pic (probably one where she was airbrushed nude). /images/graemlins/grin.gif

well, people might forget to post a pic, but someone will usually step up. No one would say "google it" though.

I was much more bothered by the fact that someone posted what is basically a "she's so hott" thread without a pic. That's just wrong IMO. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

This forum is great because of the diverse characters who somehow manage to get tangled up in different opinions without the usual pissing contest BS.

This forum is great because all those really stupid thoughts and feelings that all occur to us, you can pose as a question and about 45 others have similar thoughts.

If any of you went away to college, or lived with a bunch of other dudes at some point, this forum is very familiar to "Common Room Talk".

It's funny how a few of us went to that thread and defended the "OOT way" after reading your post. Such a tight group here on OOT. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I like it because it's a really nice break from having to look at hand histories, etc. The common room analogy was perfect. Plus, it's always fun to look at pictures of hot chicks.

I wonder if there are any hot chicks who are lurking?

I certainly wasn't disparaging (sp?) the forum; hell, I said I've been spending more time here than in any other forum. I was just pondering out loud (well, in text) why this forum gets so much traffic.

Plus, I wanted to start a thread that got some replies.

I knew there was no disparagement.

This forum is outstanding, I just wanted to say that. I never even checked it out until the Gut On Tilt avatar thread.
