Excellent book.

Just a couple of questions. On page 64 and then again on page 212, there is a statement regarding when the blinds are coming up.

"Play hands worse than normal, but not merely better than average."

1. What does the author mean by "normal"?

2. On page 85, the author writes "but if the smallest stack doubles up." What does "doubles up" mean?

Buzz,

1. What is referred to here is that Q-7 is an average hand, also known as the 'computer hand'.

The concept DS discusses is that one should not simply throw in one's last chips on any two cards in fear of the blinds being imminent; rather, one should look for a somewhat more favourable chance,

such as any ace or king.

2. Doubling up (also, 'doubling through') is increasing one's chips, by winning a hand after one has got all-in.
