Dude, i refuse to vote, barry is the [censored] bomb, who cares if he used steroids, so does everyone else these days. Steroids are the only reason baseball is even close to entertaining.

I'm a Dodger fan and even I have to admit that Barry is the MAN.

You can be the man and a juicer at the same time.

The only juicer who is the man is Hulk Hogan.

And, Pedro don't gotta use the juice, he get's retarded hair cuts to get that something extra instead...or he gets a midget, whatever mood he's in.

He is the man for a reason. Steroids. Period. You want to know what Barry Bonds would be like without steroids? Look back to his early career. Yeah, he was great, a hall of famer... but not one of the best players of all time.

Was there ever any doubt that Barry Bonds used steroids?
I assumed people knew and just didn't care. I say even MLB officials knew and didn't care, because the home run race 5 or so years ago brought new life to the stale league.

Wrong. Barry was one of the best players of all time before he broke the single season home run record. That record just made people who hadn't been paying attention pay attention. Bonds was a much better player than Griffey all throught the 90s. Not that many people noticed.

I'll let everyone judge for himself, but this strikes me as hyperbole. I couldn't get the statistics to come out in any decent format, but here are links to their career stats.

this is incredibly wrong. even before the 2000 season when he got noticably bigger and hit 49 HR there would be absolutely no question he was the greatest offenssive player in the modern era and its not even close.

Just look at the stats. Barry would've ended up in the top 15, probably even the top 10 all time. But to say he would've been the best modern player BY FAR is just statistically wrong. Even in the last 15 years he might not have been the best player.

Check out baseball-reference.com and compare stats up to 2000 and you will see he has very comparable stats to Juan Gonzalez, Frank Thomas, Ken Griffey Jr., and Jeff Bagwell just to name a few.

To say that 2000-2004 isn't what has made him an immortal (top 5) player is just wrong.

Not enough choices in this poll for me to make the correct vote.

can anyone provide a "before" picture of Barry (a pic or link)? I once was arguing w/ a friend about whether he used but I couldn't find a decent pic of him during his rookie or early year. I've heard his rookie weight was 185lb.

I know 20 years will put on the weight but that's a pretty dramatic change for anyone.

3 MVP awards in 4 years in the early 90's isn't good enough? Nevermind that he almost won it 4 years in a row as well.

Bonds was awesome before the juice and after. Easily one of the best players ever. If you deny that, then you might as well deny the existence of your mom.

I think the thing that people don't consider about steroids is that it also improves your alertness and reaction time. Sure, strength alone doens't hit it out of the park, but an improved reaction time probably helps more than anything.

googling his name and finding his baseball card pics are the only decent shots I've found so far.

If you look at those statistics and don't come to the conclusion that Bonds was far better, you lack a fundamental understanding of what makes a good baseball player.
