, journeyman MLB pitcher currently with the LA Dodgers was found liable a lawsuit with a Houston woman for half a million dollars. The suit was for pain and suffering incurred from him allegedly giving her genital herpes. Lima and his attornies plan to appeal the judgement, claiming that Lima didn't know he had herpes at the time he nailed her.

anyone have thoughts on this? i think its not right. i mean, she decided to have sex with a man she just met, and didn't insist on using protection. people need to take responsibility for their actions.

He's saying he didn't know. I didn't follow the trial or anything, but wouldn't the plaintiff have to prove that he did know for her claim of damages to have merit?

yeah the plaintiff would have to prove that. I was just saying though, I wasn't accusing Lima of anything.

Yeah, I got your point. And to that point, shouldn't a woman who goes home with a guy she meets in a bar assume that this isn't the first time this guy has gone home with a woman he meets in a bar, and that there is a significant possibility that she may catch something? Not insisting on putting casing on the sausage is -EV here.

lima seems like a good guy. i don't think he'd tap it if he knew he had herpes.

Right. Athletes never do anything improper when it comes to sex. Just ask Kobe, Mike Tyson, etc.

FWIW, Lima is quite the player, at least he was when he was with the Astros. One of my best friends was dating one of the Astros' trainers and went to Florida for spring training. The Astros were going to Puerto Rico to play an exhibition series, and Lima asked Kim to go with her, even though he was married with a kid and she was dating the trainer. Lima offered to pay for her entire trip, plus give her a credit card to use for expenses, shopping, etc.

Ryan Klesko of the Padres made her a similar offer when she went to a postgame party hosted by one of the Astros when the Padres were in town a couple of years ago.
