ok, what do you do in this situation.

all the tables on stars are currently frozen but the tournament clock is continue to tick so the blinds are going up. i'm in a $20+2 SNG with 3 players left. i had roughly 6,500 chips compared to their roughly 6,500 chips combined. the blinds were at 200/400 and now they are at 1000/2000. the cards still aren't dealing and frankly i don't know if they ever well. the fact of the matter is this game is ruined.

i emailed poker stars and i want $90 of the prize pool. i feel if i have half the chips I should be entitled to half the prize pool ($90, $54, $36) Does this sound reasonable? What would you do?

Sounds resonable - we were one half a level into a turbo when it happened. I, of course, haven't played a hand yet...

But my chat is priceless.

doubt they would give you money.

word of advice: dont leave the seat.

once everything rolls blinds will be huge, so get ready to steal chips

the blinds are gonna be 1500/3000 next time it goes. that will put the BB 150 short of all-in. i'm gonna be in the SB and will probably have to call. if i lose i'll be the low stack. completely retarded if you ask me. if i don't call i will be roughly tied with the BB. i think stars needs to offer some sort of compensation.

it won't be possible to steal cheaps because people will be forced to call.

Stars doesn't have an equity split formula for this situation like Party does?

last time this happened they just restarted the tourney with enormous blinds. Real crapshoot.

This isn't right. It's equivalent to saying you are 100% guaranteed to win - since first place is 50% of the prize pool also.

There's probably some complicated maths - which I know nothing about - but I'd guess your equity is about seven eighths of 50% of the pool, or somewhere a bit above the 2nd place value.

ya. i realized that but i didn't know how else to do the calculation. here's their solution.
[ QUOTE ]

When a tournament is cancelled, and players have already reached the
money, we refund each player their tournament fee, and then divide up the
prize pool based on the following formula:

- each player receives the minimum prize not yet awarded at the time of
cancellation
- the remainder of the award pool distributed proportionally according to
the chip count

At the time of cancellation there were 3 player remaining, and your chip
count was 6,680. Total chips in play were 13,500. The remaning prize
pool was $180.00 and the minimum prize was $36.00.

Prize pool to be divided equally: $36.00 x 3 = $108.00
Prize pool to be divided based on chip count: $180.00 - $108.00 = $72.00

Your share in money equally divided: $36.00
Your share based on your chip count: $72.00 x (6,680/13,500) = $3.81
Your entry fee refunded: $2.00
Total money refunded to your account: $73.62

[/ QUOTE ]

does that sound fair? why would they give everyone the minimum first and then go by chip equity?

Party would cancel it and give out prize money according to some chip equity formula. I don't know what stars does.

looking at their calculation for my share based on chip count:

Your share based on your chip count: $72.00 x (6,680/13,500) = $3.81

is totally botched in their email. the end result should be $35.62. where the $3.81 came from is beyond me. nonetheless they still payed me properly.

Because every one is guaranteed to finish in at least 3rd place which is the mininum that any one would get.

This is the same way tournament deals are made by chip count.
It is totaly fair.
