agree 100% i used to go directly to the forum page (without frame) just to get nice wide view... this is forcing the frame! /images/graemlins/frown.gif

hmm, I used the frames before, and I liked it, but now it is both unnecessary and a waste of space.

seems to be a browser problem. I have three browsers on my comp.

It looks fine with IE, and Firefox(newest version), but not with Mozilla.

weird.

btw, I liked the frames.

I had that bar before, but the problem with this one is that it isn't fixed. Like if I scroll to the bottom of a long thread in flat mode, I can't just go over to the left to go to a different forum, I have to scroll all the way back up. Plus it looks retarded.

Yes, very annoying.

I use firefox, I just don't like being forced to see the left frame. Put the advertising on the right/top if you have to.

Use your "Home" key. Problem solved.

Nice avatar Edge34, where did you get it?

I was actually looking through here when they changed it, so I had the frame, PLUS the green menu on the left. I was like "what the hell is going on here?" But yeah, I liked the frames. I think it made browsing much easier, and now the front page looks weird.

Someone posted it in an earlier thread and said "thought this would make a good avatar". It did /images/graemlins/cool.gif.

I see you're from Bloomington - I just happen to have been born there, although I haven't lived there for 10 years. You still around there?

I'm not a fan. /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Unless it has something to do with speeding up the site. I don't know much about forum servers, so I can't speak to that.

Yes I am still at IU. Awesome college town. Did you go to school here?

AngryCola - I would think the new format has little to nothing to do with the speed of the servers. If anything it will slow it down since there is more HTML being sent.

I'm getting the sidebars on five browsers. I think they may have eliminated Frames to speed up the server.

This is also being discussed in the Internet Gambling forum, only with more flaming, as is the IG tradition.

I'm completely behind the change, if that's the case. Would removing frames increase the speed of the site somehow? I'm completely ignorant about forum servers.

No. All of the information is sent to your bowser at one time. Your computer alters the screen when you scroll up and down. The server isn't doing anything at that point. Menus on each and every page means slightly more HTML, which means slightly more to download, which means slightly slower website. It's a tiny amount, but I think you should get the point. Maybe the main page opens up slightly quicker, but the is definitely more HTML if you are opening subforums in tabs.

Get rid of the 2.5" of white space at the top. It forces me to scroll down to see the threads.
