I feel bad about this one, but I do feel I had no choice. With blinds going up in about 3 minutes, and JJ being my first pocket pair the whole tournament, I felt I had to move in.

Sucks I ended up bad-beating a 2+2er, but I don't see how to get away from this hand in this situation.

Started the tournament trying to play a little more aggressive in late position. Worked for a while, and got up to about t1400 without ever hitting the flop.

Stopped working. Got all the way down to t450.

Went all-in with AJ, called by QT and I doubled up. Went all-in again with AJ and doubled through a KT (geez, are these guys good to me or what?). So now I'm sitting at about t2275 without getting any monsters. I don't think I've seen an AK or any pocket pairs higher than 88.

Average stack is t3613, and blinds are about to be 100/200. Hope I start catching cards.

-Z

BTW, I'm on Table #2. Uh-oh. 66 after the break. I open in CO for t500 and am raised all-in by Button. Called by BB! Guess I'll drop these sixes. Button turns over 44, and BB turns over KJ. Wow. BB catches a King, so I'm glad I folded.

Anyway, got down to t1000 and raised all-in from SB with junk, hoping to steal from a couple limpers. Called by AQ, and one of my offsuit cards catches a four-flush on board. Next hand, I have AJ and push and am called by JT or something. Cool. I'm up to t5400!

I just laid down JJ, manaic at the table has been goin all in with very crummy hands, bullyin the table. When he only raised 3bb, he was beggin for action, and I thought I could get a better oppurtunity to pick up chips, horrible play?

Zinzan
12-01-2004, 12:44 AM
JJ has to be played based on feel of table. You probably made a good laydown.

QQ is also a tricky hand. Depending on how many chips you have, etc, picking up the blinds might be good enough, though you may get lucky and get called by someone with JJ or worse.

I was disconnected with about t4800. Seems to be cable internet problems, so it took me a while to fish out my adapter card and connect to my neighbor's wireless DSL. Been blinded down to t1800 now... literally limping to the money this time (if I make it at all). I hate it.

Still haven't seen any pocket pair better than 88. Did see Big Slick once, and stole the blinds.

Actually, considering my cards, I will be happy to just get ITM.

Good luck, everyone.

Zinzan

I looked down at 88 and decided to push my last t630. Actually, I called a raise in front of me, and someone behind me pushed. Turns out he had QQ and original raiser called with AT. Hits two tens, of course.

As I say, I was happy to just get in the money this time, considering I never had a pocket pair better than eights, and only had Big Slick twice.

Good luck, everyone. GivingCash, I like your chances with that kind of momentum going for ya!

Auto-push. Your goal should be not only to make the money, but to get one of those top 10 finishes. I had a similar situation in the $50+5 Large Caps tournament once.

There was 1 to go before the money, and I was a short stack. I was on the button with AJs. A very very aggressive big stack in MP min-raised. He had done this a LOT. I came over the top and doubled up there against a very marginal holding (I think he had KT or something like that).

I could have folded into the money, but instead I now had a playable stack.

I went on to win that Large Caps, my first MTT win.

Zinzan
12-01-2004, 01:58 AM
Thanks, Slag. As I said, I was really leaning towards pushing, and was very surprised when my time ran out... I thought I had like 60 seconds or so, so I wasn't paying attention to the clock... I was looking at the other tables to see how many small stacks were in imminent danger. I had the second smallest stack. Even if I stole the blinds there, I would have had the second smallest stack. If I had doubled up, I would have had the third smallest stack...

Still, I was probably thinking too much and should have just pushed.

In the end, this is the first time I've ever played the bubble like a wuss. I'm very ashamed.

-Z

TheTimeIsUp

I was a short stack, and was getting no hands, so I was forced to push, or so I think. If I let the blind hit me, I would have only 4k chips, but be able to see some hands. I didn't think it was +EV. I figured if I pushed here I would have about 40% if he had overs, maybe 45% if he had worse. Was this the correct play?

This actually was the farthest I have got in a Super. I am relitively new to highish stake tournaments online, so this was indeed a first for me.

About the poker, I think I had a terrible showing. I completely relied on the cards, limping in the money with 1k b4 I doubled 3 times only because of cards. The only bluff play I made was to throw the table off, and that is very weak. There were many steals on me that I could have easily came over the top and taken it down. I didn't make the most of my dry spell of cards.

Mainly, this was my first Super where I had gotten this far, so I am thinking I had the jitters. I think I mentally decided I just wanted to make it to the final table, no matter what.

In the end, it proved my undoing. I will make sure this does not happen next time, since I got some experience put in the bag. You probably don't give a crap about this post, but I just had to get my thoughts off my chest.

Again, thank you all the sweaters at 2+2, probably the only reason I balled up a few times to make the final table. Good night, all!

Me either, I typed in for a raise of 12,000, and accidently put a extra zero and clicked bet, and it put me all in.

you did the right thing.
you were getting 2.5-1 and were the smallest stack.
if you fold you are under 10K, so no way you can get anybody to fold.
He can be raising with a ton of hands here and you probably have between 35 and 40% chance to win. If you win, you are completely back in it.
If you fold you have less than a 35% chance to get back in it as you'll need to get lucky to pickup a real hand in the next few hands, so this is a superior opportunity.

It is likely you should have pushedin before now, but I didn't see the hands.

Congrats

Ah. I've done that before, and sweated what seemed like forever before the table folded around. I got lucky, and have tried to be really careful ever since.

Instead of just putting you all-in, Party should beep at you and not accept a bet greater than the money you have available. For example, if you have t54,000, and type 120000, it shouldn't accept the final zero and should send out a warning beep. Instead, it just turns the bet amount into an all-in.

Good game, otherwise, bads33d.

Yep, once I had to leave, it was destined that your luck run out... When can I expect that transfer, by the way?
