Chief, post hand?

Chief911
11-29-2004, 10:56 PM
I would hate myself even more if I posted it. Needless to say, I bluffed a maniac, and he called me down with second pair allin. I got what I deserved.

JJ in the SB against 88 in the BB, doubled once, then a 4 way all in with AA in teh BB against KK, Q4, and 77 and I survived. Had AK twice and hit two pair both times, but put straights out there, lost one of them and had to slow down on the other.

Good start for the first time in ages.

Stipe_fan on table 29 with T1900

Completed a double belly buster straight after the bettor let me see the turn cheaply and then went all-in. I was able to double up.

I had to lay-down AKs to a limp reraise then re-reraise all-in Of course both had a pocket pairs.

Otherwise, the table is solid. Good luck to all that are in.

Well, I should clarify. I semi-bluffed with an open ended straight. I had KQs, board was JT rag. I pushed after he bet 300 (I bet 100 ish). He called me down with KT.

I'm going to go drown my tears in some weak tight 30/60 players on stars.

was I too aggressive preflop???

My answer is yes, I was. I think I need to cold call here..but felt the uncontrollable urge to push, which I do not think is a horrid play, but proably not optimal.

MrX... it depends on how good you think your postflop play is... If you feel you are better than average, I can't see any reason to push preflop. Especially considering stack sizes and blinds. I would actually just call here, then make a 1/2 pot sized bet on the flop. If he actually calls, then a bigger bet when you hit your hand on the turn. In this case, with 2 overs and an 8 high flush draw, I don't see how he could call the flop. But if he does, calling the turn is even worse call for him... but give you the same results. Putting pressure on him when he sees cards. Most people are willing to risk it before the flop, but once they see a flop they can get a better feeling that they are beaten and let a winning hand go.

TheTimeIsUp

I don't like that play, only because you usually won't get a call. I say reraise to about 900-1k and put him to the test. Just bad luck on this one, though.

MrX
11-29-2004, 11:49 PM
I did not like the play either, I regretted it the moment I did it. I hate mental breakdowns like that. I had a 30BB stack, know it was wrong, but almost needed to embarrrass my self by posting the hand and hear how wrong it was and hopefully learn from my mistake.

Wow, everything has gone my way so far. AA again, JJ vs 99, AK 3 more times, and even when I miss I bet and take it down. WIsh it could last.

Stipe_fan at table 16 with T4800

Had A-A twice and held up versus the same guy....poor soul. Playing solid poker. I have not had to make any big decisions thusfar.

I raised up David's blind and was able to take it down. That may be the highlight of my night!

Keep it going, trouts!

Table 6 with David

T6200 after third break

I can't seem to find a hand. Patience is of the essence, now. I am in David's backhand, which is a good place to be.

Was chip leader briefly, nothing bad yet, but made most of my chips on semi-bluffs this hour. No big hands.

Stipe took a huge bite out of me when his 44 beat my QQ, but I got it back when my 77 sucked out on AA. I'm 9th overall with 52 left.

Stipe_fan

Yes, I was able to out-draw on David.

I was not getting any playable hands for the last 1 1/2 hours. I had T6000 and David ~T18000. He raises to 2K, I go all-in the last 4k. He flips QQ and I had 44 and I hit a set.

I thought he might be stealing or have A-10 and would have to lay it down.

I busted out when my KK was rivered by A4o. (ace on the river). He raised me and I went all-in and I was out.

It was nice playing with all the 2+2ers. Nice job finishing 14th, David. I still have a couple of Super Qualifiers so I will be playing again soon.

Ciao,

Stipe
