I'm a little confused on his math after the flop. I can't see where he's getting 7:1 odds on his call.

The author doubles the bets on the turn instead of halving the bets in the pot.

So 2 "big bets" to him on the turn, makes 4 "bets" or small bets to call. If you divide the pot by 2 (24 goes to 12) you still end up in the same spot, 2 bets to win 14, so 1:7.
