Hi Everyone:

I thought I would announce some of our plans for the future.

Starting shortly after the new year, we plan to start an Internet Magazine. What this means is that every month we'll put up 5 to 10 articles. Authors will include David, NPA, Al Schoonmaker, Ray Zee, and myself. We'll also open it up to those of you who would like to submit articles.

We'll pay a fee for any article that we use and they will remain up for three months only. We'll also start a new forum devoted to discussion of the articles, and as usual, we'll encourage vigorous discussion of what's written.

I'll be posting more specifics when the time comes.

Best wishes,

Mason

Sounds like a great direction.

This has probably already been thought about, but it would be good to provide a good mix of levels. Granted that anything at 2+2 is going to be very intelligent, and i would never ask you to "dumb it down", but that still leaves room for a mix of articles for more- or less-experienced players.

Incredible Mason. I wish the undertaking great success and I for one am expecting some advanced concepts from the core of expert writers.

Mason:

Do you think you can convince Ed, Greg, and Dan to get involved in the action as well? Ed's hand examples are a monthly ritual for me, I read and re-read the examples... always learning something new. I'd also love to see Dan start posting here once his book comes out, he would be a valuable part of the community. It would be great to see Greg come back someday as well...

Dumb question, but I have to ask:

Does it cost anything?

Hi King:

No. It will just be another page on this site and another forum.

Best wishes,
Mason

That sounds great.

I also think it is funny that you are calling Ed Miller NPA.

On the subject of business, there is Forbes, Fortune, Money, Inc. and other relatively (intellectually) shallow magazines. Then there is Harvard Business Review, the Journal of Marketing Strategy, and the McKinsey Quarterly. These three are much deeper and more academic. It's about time poker had a "Harvard Business Review". Good luck.

This is FANTASTIC news!!

I was just thinking recently that we haven't had as many of the essays from you guys that I loved so much (either on the front-page of the 2+2 forums or when you guys used to write in cardplayer, etc).

I suspected it was due to all of the other activities you guys are involved in including the upcoming publishing surge....but I still missed the articles nonetheless.

I think organizing your own internet-magazine for this purpose is a terrific idea and I'm looking for to it.

Will the magazine be in standard HTML, or will it be in a publishable format, like PDF? Will you be accepting advertisments?

Ya know I just LOVE magazines...

Hi Luv:

Magazine may not be the right word. What we plan to do is have a group of essays by different authors available on the site which anyone can read. Then we'll have a forum that's dedicated to these essays.

We already have a few essays up, so I assume it will be done in a similar fashion. It's just that every month we'll have a new batch go up.

best wishes,
Mason

Sounds good, I find that the problem with the current format is that beginners and middle limit players cant really have discussions with the better players.

Most of the really good players are in mid,high-stakes.

It would be good to provide a place for good discussion amongst levels without all the spam you find in general/pokertheory.

Actually, its Touring Trophy... not twin turbo. Its a common mistake.

That's a great idea. I'm sure between the authors you listed and all of the great players in the forums, there will be some amazing articles.

Would you have to pay for each article? I would be more inclined to pay a fee once a month, as opposed to paying for each article.

Mason Malmuth

Hi Mungpo:

I think you misunderstood. To view the articles there will be no charge. The fee is what we, meaning Two Plus Two, will pay the authors.

Best wishes,

Mason
