Down to 5 players. I'm SB with t1100. BB is chip leader with ~ t4000. The other 3 players each have appox. t1000 each. Folded to me. Blinds are 50 / 100 and are going up in two hands. I have A8o. Even though the chip leader is in BB, I push. Does anybody think this is too aggressive? For me this play would be done without a 2nd thought if the chip leader wasn't BB. Should that fact keep me from making this play?

Doesn't matter. Chip leader can't reraise you or bet after the flop. If he makes a marginal call, you will probably have the better hand. Easy push.

Thanks for the reply. Since I started reading this forum, I've been playing a lot more aggresively in spots like this. Ended up getting called by KQo. Fine by me (a fold would have been nice too!). Lost the hand but I just wanted to hear from the experts if my play was correct. Chip leader was playing well and doing a lot of raising and I wasn't interested in playing to fold into the money.

Push. You are only dominated with A9-AK, AA, 88+ (7.8% of hands). The folding equity more than makes this +EV.
