I've been to a few final tables before, but not for this high a buyin. I was wondering if someone with experience at this level ($55 multi table)could tell me what they'd do in this situation:

tobama is aggressive and seems solid.
kinish007 is super aggressive and a little loose.
I don't have as good a read on bigal1547, but he seems like a good player.

Would you have opened with a large bet, as I did here?
When tobama raises, should I have folded?

I'd this right here. Your raise is great, AQo is a monster hand heads-up. I think the short stack has a mid pair, while the re-raiser probably A9 or above.

The situation is key for you, you could make top 3 where the money is by just folding. You don't need a monster stack to down the tournament, you don't need to knock players out to win. Tom McEvoy got second in a tournament without elimanting one person from start to finish.

Fold is the plan of attack here, a better situation will arrive, trust me. /images/graemlins/spade.gif

I wish I had folded. Given more time, I may have come to the same conclusion that you suggest.

I figured at the time, I was behind in chips (I was the short stack at 7000 to bigal and tobama who each had more than twice my stack), I had a pretty good hand, and I probably had less experience than the rest of the players that were left in that situation. But given more time to think about it, I should have put the guy on AK or better.

Here's what happened:
Tournament all-in showdown -- players show:

cha59 shows As Qc.
tobama shows Kh Ad.

Flop (board: 2h Td 7d):

(no action in this round)

Turn (board: 2h Td 7d Js):

(no action in this round)

River (board: 2h Td 7d Js Jd):

(no action in this round)

Showdown:

cha59 has As Qc Td Js Jd: a pair of jacks.
tobama has Kh Ad Td Js Jd: a pair of jacks.

Hand #3436656-72 Summary:

No rake is taken for this hand.
tobama wins 14700 with a pair of jacks.
cha59 is eliminated.

Oh, well.... Thanks for your reply.

unless the guy is a rock, 4handed i am calling.
particularly since if you fold you have about 40% of the next lowest stack and will be in bad shape.
