I've finally given up searching for the perfect chips for our ring game. I really like the NJ clays, but for $1.10 I might as well just buy authentic pualson chips from the casinos when i am in Vegas next time. Does anyone know if any casinos still use 25 or 50 cent chips. I would imagine some of the older casinos downtown still use them but i'm not for sure. Any advice would be helpful. Also if anyone has done this before, do the casinos let you just take their chips out the front door or do you have to "sneak" them out?
I figure this is the perfect set, because if in the near future a set comes out that i like, such as the new paulson line, i can cash my chips back in and get the use of them for free. Thanks in advance.

Dude, if you're thinking of building a chip set by sneaking it out of a casino, you've lost it. Even if you found a casino that would give you a rack of 50 cent chips - I guess to play 1-2 holdem with - you'll never get them out of a casino. Look for some cheap chips online and buy them. Don't try to boost something from a casino. That's a recipe for disaster.

There's no illegality behind taking the chips out of the casino. I'm sure some of the pitbosses would frown upon watching someone walk out with two hundred of their chips, but legally, there isn't anything they can do about it. In case you haven't noticed, chip collecting has a huge market.
Oh and trust me the last thing in the world i want for my home game is the cheap arse chip sets that are floating around on the internet. I have a very nice set of 1200 chips for our tournaments, but i want something different for our cash game. Just in case any llamas try to sneak some chips into the cash game. I also refuse to pay $2 a piece for paulsons off of ebay. Hopefully with their new home chips coming out the prices on ebay will drop back down to a reasonable amount.

Our casino/boat uses metal tokens for $.25 & $.50 I think a lot of places are doing this now because of what you want to do. With $1 being the smallest demonination chip, they are paying less than face value for each one, so it's not that big of a deal when they walk out the door.

peace.

I don't think the casinos care if you walk out with their chips. The .25 and .50 are always crappy light plastic chips. They don't cost .25 to make. I'm sure casinos could care less if you walk out with 200+ chips. The $1 chips don't cost $1 to make.

For every chip you take home and never return, the casino makes a profit. Plain and Simple.
