NL Tournment with about 70 starters. Blinds are $100/200 and we are a long way from the money. I have a stack of $2000. UTG limps in for $200 (stack $1600). Everyone folds to me in the SB.

UTG is a very good, tricky player who likes to limp in with his big pairs. If I raise 3x the big blind, he will call with smaller pairs or AQ/JTs and look at the flop. If I raise "all in", he will fold these hands but call with medium pairs and AK. BB is a conservative player and has a stack of about $1000.

My feeling is that if I hit the flop, I will be unlikely to get payed off by a worse hand so limping does not seem feasible. What is my play?

Regardless, if what you had here was a strong hand, raise and try to take the pot. Don't let the UTG player get off for free most of the time simply because he's capable of limp-reraising with a big pair.
