Smells like AA or JJ. Not sure how many times a person will decide to cap it (edit:preflop) HU and check it in front. Call down or fold?

In my limited experience so far, it seems standard practice for .5/1 players to wait for 4th St to CR a set. If it's JJ, you're drawing to 2 outs. If it's AA, you're dead. I don't think the pot's big enough to call him down. I'm folding.

hear hear. they gotta be good players for that sort of play. You can fold this with a bit of certainty.

the flop check/call followed by the turn check/raise smells like a monster to me.

Could be another AK. Or a bluff.

Without a read you probably could fold this at 0.5/1. At higher levels you need to call this down.

If it's JJ, you're drawing to 2 outs.

What are they? You look pretty dead to me.

If it's JJ, his 2 outs would be the 2 remaining aces.

Any reads? It becomes pretty important in this particular instance.

the two remaining aces give JJ a fullhouse while giving you only trip aces. you are drawing nearly dead against JJ

You should call this down. Most people who would cap with JJ would also cap with AK. AK is more likely than JJ mathematically. Both AK and JJ would often play this hand in this manner. Hence you are good far too often to fold here.

I don't think you're good far too often here. Easy fold.

edit: so you're going to call here for half of the pot at best?

I'm probably calling down, but fairly sure I'm beat. My hand's only gotta be good 1 time in 8 to be +EV to call down.

Actually it will have to be good 1 time in 5 since you'll have to call another bet on the river to win 9.7 BB.

My read was that if he had KK/QQ, he would bet into the ace.

I folded.

Nearly dead? I don't see a card that gives hero a better hand or even a split pot? The only card that can help him is an ace and that helps his opponent more, giving him a boat.

Isn't hero drawing dead here?

If your opponent has AA or JJ then you are drawing dead after the turn. If you can put him on one of those hands with almost absolute certainty then it's a fold. Otherwise I would call it down. I've seen some top pairs played rather aggressively at .50/1 and I don't really feel comfortable folding here unless you have a great read on him.
