I will cross post this in the home poker forum but am also posting here as this has always been my home since the forums were expanded. Here is a link for a poker chip sale that expires Sunday night at midnight. I ordered two sets. The link is here poker chip link (http://www.spinettis.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=224)

I am not affiliated with Spinetti's except as a customer. I bought a set from Spinetti's and the quality was not as good as fivestar. Some of the chips were thinner than others and they were somewhat 'slick'. The price is really hard to pass up though. They would make great Christmas presents.

Thank you,

Jim Kuhn

Wow, great deal, thanks for the heads up Jim! They'll make for a great yankee swap gift. Aren't similar sets normally around $75-$80?

i saw this (http://www1.infinitydesign.net/virtual/store.worldpokertour.com/www/product/index.php?productid=3402) set at foxwoods. the set you are linking looks almost the same. that's one huge premium that WPT is placing on these for what amounts to added logos and some die.

this is a great deal you found jim.

As I mentioned in a previous thread....I don't know diddly-squat about chips.
But an 11.5 set for $24 looks pretty good to me and I will certainly trust the good judgement of Jim, Jurollo and Granny that this actually is a good deal.

I feel weird that I consider myself a fairly 'serious' poker player yet I don't even own any chips.
Whenever I'm teaching a friend how to play ("this is the big-blind" etc) I'm always using Scrabble tiles as chips. LOL. I'm such a fake.

Anyway, thanks for the link...I ordered a set and look forward to not having to use the scrabble-tiles anymore.
If I had friends who actually play poker I would actually be set for a home-game....but all of my friends (not including my little cyber-pals on 2+2) are of the non-poker variety.

Unless you want the basic supplied colors be sure to provide your preferences in the notes on the order form. I have ordered from them twice and found their customer service to be great. Both time I called and changed the order and they made the modifications without any problems. I found it best to have the order number they email you when calling to modify your order.

I thought that price was very good as the cases usually cost about that much. I think I paid about $130 for a thousand chip set from them a few months ago.

Thank you,

I don't even know what the basic supplied colors are (blue, red, green maybe??).

Doesn't really matter that much to me as long as it's not Lavender, Teale and whatever that orange is that the Chicago Bears are wearing today.

Thanks for the tip though.....if I get more in the future maybe I'll think about the colors.
Right now I'm just looking to get a decent, cheap set and I'm too unsophisticated to consider the silly details like colors.
but it's good to know it's a company that is easy to work with if I want to get more chips or other products from them in the future.

The default set comes with 100 white, 100 green, 50 red and 50 blue. I would personally like 50 black and 50 green as blacks are usually $100 in the casinos. Both times I ordered and minutes later left them a voice mail with changes. This was in the evening and the next morning they called to confirm the changes and provide a new total price. I added kem cards and chip spacers both times.

Thank you,

I've dealt with this guy before on ebay. he's based here in vegas, and he's a class act. shipping costs a lot cause chips are heavy, but i just picked mine up /images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I would definitely recommend him, i didnt know he had a website. I was thinking about doing some more chip purchasing sometime soon, and was gonna look him up on ebay and call him. anyways...i can recommend him.

It took 3-4 business days to receive the order. I think via UPS.

I bought the dice design chips a while from a store near my house... and my God, they're slippery as hell, you gotta be real careful around a stack of those, one slight nudge and they all fall.

I see no reason to have more than 2 colors. In the home games that I play (5/10 up to 20/40) we play with red and white. The red are $5 and the white are $1. These 2 are plenty to accomodate the bets and rake. I find that multiple colors are a pain.

I got mine today (UPS guy tried to deliver on Friday but I wasn't home).

Pretty nice.
yes, the chips are kind of slippery...but I think that is kind of to be expected.

I didn't specify anything so I got the 'default' set I guess with dice-design...100 white and green, 50 red and blue.
The blues can serve as blacks I think so it's NOT that big of a problem.

If I get more chips I'll probably go for a diamond design or card-suits.
Dice seems kind of silly.

It also included an old Card-player magazine and just looking through some of the advertisments for chips in there it looks like this was a pretty reasonable deal.

Thanks again Jim.
Good bargain. I'm a satisfied customer.

Now when I teach my friends how to play I don't have to use the damn scrabble tiles anymore!!

Just a heads up on the Desert Palace Chips. I bought this set from Spinnettis last year on EBay for $180.00. Overall the chips are very solid and show no wear at all as I've played with them about 100 times (twice a week). I loved the fact that you could select any denominations you wanted to complete the 500 chip set. The advertising says the gold denominations are "heat-stamped" into the chip itself, so it won't wear off. Some of the denominations on the chips are imprinted into the chip, however on the lower, more used, chips ($.50, $1), many of the denominations weren't heat-stamped and have literally worn right off to the point of no gold at all.

The chips themselves are durable and show no wear at all, however buyer-beware if you choose the sets with the denominations.

I'm personally looking into purchasing the Paulson or Chipco sets I see listed on ebay now. From what I've heard, those are truly like the chips in casinos today.

Don't feel bad. I don't even own a deck of cards!
