My girlfriend and I broke up this week. It's our second and final breakup, I just don't see myself taking her back again.

Anyway, I need some motivational movies to flip my switch back into single mode.

Obviously I'll start with Swingers. Then I'm going to watch About a Boy. Hugh Grant is the ultimate bachelor in that movie. What else should I watch.

For starters, you'll need to "validate your singlehood." So start with Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and The War of the Roses. This will let you know that the other half is a bunch of monkeys.

Then, watch Fight Club, three or four times.

This is my prescription for pretty much any malady.

Agreed. Any angry or blood and guts movie will do you well. Dawn of the Dead, American History X, Glory, Predator....

Anything without Hugh Grant in it, for starters.

Whatever that Woody Allen movie was where he said,"The best part of masturbation is the cuddling afterwards."

High Fidelity - ultimate breakup/dealing with breakup movie there is

and it involves music, so I superduper love it - one of the greatest movies ever...
--------------------------
Laura: Listen, Rob, would you have sex with me? Because I want to feel something else than this. It either that, or I go home and put my hand in the fire. Unless you want to stub cigarettes out on my arm.

Rob: No. I only have a few left, I've been saving them for later.

Laura: Right. It'll have to be sex, then.

Rob: Right. Right.
--------------------------
Rob: Jon Dillinger was killed behind that theater in a hail of FBI gunfire. And do you know who tipped them off? His [censored] girlfriend. All he wanted to do was go to the movies.
---------------------
Dick: Marie de Salle's playing. You remember I told you about her. I like her. She's kind of Sheryl Crow-ish crossed with a post-Partridge Family pre-L.A. Law Susan Dey kind of thing, but, you know, uh, black.
-----------------------

and it's written by the same guy who wrote "About A Boy" - (the book anyways) - so you'd dig it.. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Man enjoy the poker playnig with no noe whining about the loss of quality time.
Strip Club + Alcohol is compulsory.
Movie-wise, I'd go kung-fu, horror, alien, etc... all the kind of stuff you will not be able to watch when back in captivity... One advice is go Ong-Bak, hardcore thai boxing movie, definately builds the spirit!
Congratulations!

why not go out and get laid instead of wallowing in self-pity, watching a movie, clutching tissues and crying?

Just a thought.

uhhh, I have done no wallowing and have no self pity. I am feeling great and am excited about being single again.

I asked for movie recommendations because I like movies. And right now my theme in life is badass single young man, so I'd like to watch movies with that theme.

I guess due to the situation my attempted neutral tone could be defaulted to sad. My mistake, I'm not sad or depressed.

Anyway, I just thought of another movie. Cruel Intentions!

Has anyone seen Alfie yet, is it good?

You guys make it sound like watching a movie sucks up every ounce of my time. I don't get a big enough thrill from chasing women that I want to do it 24 hrs a day. I do have time to watch a movie.

What's funny is that I probably live closer to the advice I'm getting than the people who keep giving it to me. I asked for some movie recs and keep being told to get out there and bang the women.

I know to bang the women, and I even know how.

Yeah, but telling you to bang women makes it sound like we bang alot of women, we need that, don't take it away from us.
