I've hit my first real downswing (125 BB) after 18K hands. I understand this is part of the game I'm just worried if I'm playing bad because of it. Comments on this hand?

UTG+1 is TA-A. MP3 is sLP-P

Bet the flop, and raise if UTG+1 raises you. You have a good hand. Why not get money in the pot?

Also its important to knock people out of the pot. BET/RAISE!

Here is my newbie thinking.

It looked like you were slow playing your trips after the flop. That worked good since a blank fell on the turn (non-heart). At this point I would think I had the best hand and would cap UTG+1's 3-bet on the turn (I liked the turn check raise). I would then lead the river.

In my opinion, you were too passive with these trips. Also, sorry to hear about your downswing.

Good luck

I either lead or check raise the flop. If you think you can get a lot of people trapped for one more bet on the flop, then C/R. If you think you will get raised on a flop bet, you might consider who will be raising you. You want to extract as many bets from cold callers as you can, so you don't want the guy to your left raising right after your flop bet.

Depending on reads here, I would probably C/R the flop, lead the turn.

How common are 100+ BB downswings? Can they just be terrible luck or are they usually a sign that something is wrong with your play as well?
