Mario Lemieux, arguably the most talented hockey player in NHL history, contracted it early in the 1992-1993. He came back, having missed half the season, to lead the league in scoring. Search his name for some inspiration.

If he's in good shapem, has good doctors, and works hard at treatment, he has a good chance of recovery.

Good luck to you and him.

I know it can make your lymph nodes swollen very quickly. A surgeon doing a biopsy on me for suddenly huge lymph nodes when I was a kid told my parents it was probably Hodgkins and I probably had 30 days to live. So apparently it can progress extremely quickly, and the lymph nodes can get to a really bad state painlessly and unnoticeably, per my doctor's diagnosis of me. Luckily all I had was a very severe and rare form of mononucleosis, but Hodgkins seems like a potentially extremely scary and fast-acting cancer. Good luck to your friend, and to you in coping with the disease also.

My uncle just beat it. It's my understanding that the success rate on it is pretty high these days, especially if they find it early. Just make sure he doesn't miss any treatments and he has a very good chance of pulling through.
