Okay, I've put this off long enough.

How does one 'load' an avatar on one's personal profile here??

I see you need to supply a URL. Does that mean you must have a pic on it's own website?

Yes.

Some people recommend getting some free webspace from one of the multiple proividers of such things. If you don't already have your own site or webspace, I think it's easier to use a site like:

Photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com/)

Once you sign up to a free image hosting service, such as photobucket, they will provide you a link to the images you have uploaded to the site.

Search around on the internet for images. If you already have one in mind, keep in mind that it must be a max of 80x80 pixels (*.jpg,*.gif,*.png).
