I first thought a limp-reraise was something only done by inexperienced and irrational players, but then someone commented on some statistics and said a player hadn't limp-reraised enough. What's the point?

the limp reraise is a way to trap more players for more bets if you have, say, aa or kk, and a very aggressive player or tilting maniac is to your direct left. you can limp in here, expect him to raise, so you can come in from behind him and make it 3 bets to go.

At least a non-sure way to get more money in the pot. You see someone do it you can almost instantly put them on A-A or K-K. Personaly I think it is horrible play. You're just inviting players in to see a cheap flop if no one raises behind you.

At lower levels it is a stupid play. you can try it and it will backfire more times than not. I have seen limp reraise with all kinds of crap at micros.

In the micros fourm someone wrote a good explination of where to do it.

Sorta like the perfect storm it has to be the right circumstances

when i said "not true" it was in reference to your 99% comment which is obviously false. if you said something like "generally most limp reraises at micro/small limits are crap" i'd have an easier time believing that, but to say 99 out of 100 limp reraises are crap is wrong. so really i was just nitpicking. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I still think that limp reraising works a bit better in NL games.

You either limp or min raise 1BB in EP, someone later on raises it to 4BB+, you reraise to 8BB+, etc. You can sucker a lot of people in to calling the 4BB reraise and fold to your bigger reraise.

Didn't the limp-reraising habits of an opponent lead doyle to his first WSOP victory?

The inherent problem with this is that if the aggressive player behind you plays well post-flop, you are at a disadvantage the rest of the hand as he can now play perfectly.

If he has a pair, he can call your 3-bet and fold if he doesn't flop a set. If he has a hand like KJs he has the odds to see the turn with as little as a gutshot and a back-door flush.

I don't know, but what works or doesn't work in the WSOP doesn't always have the same results playing small stakes . . .

It does announce to the whole table that you have AA / KK, but only if they realize you're a tight player. I've seen many people do the same with crap like middle or low PPs. All you need is one guy to push all in.

If they fold I'm more than happy to take down the pot right there.

Here (http://www.winningonlinepoker.com/limpreraise.htm) is a decent article on limp-reraising, although it focusses on No-Limit.
