Couple of observations about this contest, which has been very well run, and I appreciate the time you spent on putting this together, kudos to all that have stuck with it each week.

I think there should be a deadline, and late entrants should not be permitted entry. Say by week 4. I have been fighting to maintain a profit, that is my goal for the year, and I am at plus 1300 I think. I have made selections all weeks but one, where I was out of town.

So then someone comes in late in week 9 and luckily goes 4-0 and year to date, they are 100 bucks ahead of me. That gets me down because I think it is easier to go 4-0 in one week, than it is to maintain consistency and have a profit showing after ten weeks. It sort of skews the final standings if you ask me. Sitting back and observing the first 4-8 weeks of the season without risking anything is a definite advantage IMO.

Ok, thats all. Go Texans. I'm going to look back at all my past selections, I seem to always hit my $400 game and its the next three I have problems with. There is a jinx if I ever heard one!

Some say that would be smart gambling, but I thought about your point back when I started- thus the total wins tiebreaker, rather than best record.

I wasn't really worrying about it any more, since I figured that, unless the current leaders self-immolate, someone going perfect for these last 6 weeks probably can't catch them anyway. As for you personally... you'll just have to keep in mind that anyone who knows capping would give your longer-term results more weight, even if the dollars are off.
Also, you had a chance to accumulate dollars that they never could have. Unless they can come into the season late and go perfect against the spread, the lines will catch up with them as well (see all of the johnny-come-latelys who hit a perfect week and then faded back, or dropped out completely)
For an extreme example, should I claim that I've been ripped off because you skipped the week that I went 0-4, and therefore you shouldn't be beating me? The bookies don't care when they collect the losing bets...

Your comment is a point to consider again, however. I'll put something out there later tonight for the group to vote on.

I sure did feel smart after that first quarter, though! Texans crushed me last week (cost me solo first in a picks pool and pushed out of a nice parlay I had with them). I was a little bitter, and my gut said the Titans would make an attempt at a playoff run this week with McNair coming back. Oops.

Hope you at least tailed me on the Vikings, what a game that was.

A tip for the late game, take the under in the DEN/OAK game. This line has been falling all week, but I still think it's good. Throw in the fact that it's cold and snowy in denver, and it looks great.
