I won a tournament this June at the Trop in AC. Payout was over $3000 and no SS# was requested when I was paid. I won a $1000 satellite this week at the Taj in AC. They refused to give me my vouchers unless I provided a SS#. They said it was not for tax purposes, but for the Deparment of Gaming Enforcement.
This seems like the type of thing that would have to be consistent among the casinos in AC. So... were they bluffing and would have paid me had I stood my ground? Have the rules changed since June? Are these types of decisions up to individual casinos? My thinking was that is was for detection of money laundering or possibly to prevent banned persons from collecting winnings, but I have not been able to find any info.
