It was an episode where Lemont has some friends come over to play poker and fred is telling him he shouldn't and he'll get cheated and all that. Typical of the days when poker was considered immoral. So of course the guys do cheat lemont. After that fred sends lemont out for beer. He then proceeds to open his deck of cards that he swore on that he would never play poker again and cheats the cheats. Seemed like they took about $50 from lemont and fred won back what looked like $10K and the clothes off thier backs (which was some of the gaudiest 70's pimp attaire I have ever seen). Damn funny episode.

I think Sanford and Son is up there for the worst shows people actually like.

It's like most shows. It had plenty of bad episodes.

But unlike most shows, it had Redd Foxx. And his mannerisms and gags are pretty easy to remember with fondness. Redd Foxx was a very funny guy in his stand-up, and sometimes it came through in his show.

I remember that episode. I liked when they had Sammy Davis on.

I agree with you that Red Foxx was funny. So is George Carlin. But their shows blew.

I might be the only man in America who never found Redd Foxx's stand-up funny, but liked Carlin's show on Fox.

In Las Vegas, many years ago. I think it was a 3-6 game. He was a miserable SOB.

I like to watch my DVD set of Kung Fu when I play.

That way I combine the grace of the crane, with the ferocity of the tiger.

Yea, I forgot he ever had a show until I read this thread. It really sucked. One of my favorite quotes is from Carlin: "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers." Or something like that.

All you guys who think Redd Foxx was a great stand-up, go listen to one of his albums, and tell me if you laugh ONCE.

I'll bet you don't. And I'll even let you get a few drinks under your belt, for a head start.

I've seen bits of his stand-up act. Cracked me up. Told the jokes I remembered to other people and cracked them up too.
