I'm moving and I have to get rid of my old mattress. I don't have the means to move it because my mattress is queen size and my car is small. No one that I know has the means to move it either. So what do I do? There has to be some sort of business that takes junk out of old apartments, but I can't think of where I'd locate them. I should be able to figure this one out on my own... but I can't.

Go sit it next to the dumpster. I put the over/under at 2 hours before someone takes it. And if no one does, then it gets taken to the dump, so either way you are free of your problem.

Your other option is to call the salvation army and tell them you have it, they will come and pick it up if they take mattresses (some good will places wont)

You could just leave it, what's anybody gonna do about it?

There is a fairly new company called 1-800-got-junk that do this. There nation wide and you should have one in your area.

Any of your local moving companies will pick it up.

I can't believe it took three posts to get to this one. Salvation army is a good choice though.

tie it on the roof of your car.

You forgot that it won't be totally secure. You have to hold onto it with your arm.

Yes, I've seen several people secure their matress with some rope and the force of their outstretched left arm while driving down the road. I feel very safe sharing the roads with these motorists while I'm laughing to myself as I watch them in my REARVIEWMIRROR.

throw the mattress in the street and set it on fire.

this is standard procedute in urban areas. in the suburbs, just drag it out to the dumpster and leave it.
