A few years ago, I really liked a place called Tamarind. (http://www.menupages.com/restaurantDetails.asp?areaId=6&restaurantId=3051)

41-43 E. 22nd Street
212-674-7400

I haven't been there since Scrubette moved out of the NYC, though.

There's also a great indian place in Princeton, NJ called Masala Grill. (http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2001/05/18/arts/3241.shtml)

It's a great place to stop on the way between NYC and AC.

I know you've been in Berkely for a while so I'll go easy on you...If Princeton is somehow on your way from NYC to AC you've got some major directional issues.

It's not that out of the way if you're driving.

It adds a little time on to the trip, but I like to stop somewhere and get decent food instead of stopping in that sketchy AC expressway rest stop... I'm usually driving from CT instead of NYC, so it's a decent place for me to stop where I know the restaurants. Plus I can pick up Edtost just to make sure my games are good.../images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good point about Eddy, can't go to AC without him.

Tarmarind is on my block but I've never gone because it seems very strange to me to spend that much on Indian food. Like getting good service at a Chinese restaurant, or something.

I like Pongol on Lex and there's a great take-out Pakistani place on First around First that seems to be a favorite of the cab drivers--cabs are always lined up in front of the place. The food is searingly hot and very good there.

I think my roommate brought home some food from that place once. It was very good. What's the name?

is masala grill that much better than kalluri corner(sp?)? cause the latter is pretty damn good.

Masala Grill is several orders of magnitude better than Kalluri Corker.

If you think that Kalluri Corner is good, you really need to go to Masala Grill. Palace of Asia is also much better than Kalluri Corner, but you have to drive to it, and Masala Grill is better anyway.

Speaking of expensive Chinese food, I had a great dinner at Shun Lee (http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7166608/?cslink=cs_boc_lw_2_1) a few years ago. I've heard it can be hit or miss, though.

A lot of the people at work like Mogul's in Iselin, NJ (very close to the Metro Park train station) a/k/a Little India. There's a LOT of Indian restaurants there but none that seem to rise above. People also like Reggani's on Rt. 22 in Mountainside, NJ.
