I was looking through my old posts to find a thread and stumbled on this Electoral College thread (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=exchange&Number=583860) from March. They pegged the election result a good 8 months before the election.
So, in the end, despite all the day to day news and spin, people ultimately stick to their initial decision of who to vote for. But then, I've always gotten a gut feel for the outcome of a Presidential election about a year before it happens and I haven't been wrong yet (although the closeness of 2000 surprised me).
