Paradise $5 tournament.

Winner pays $25

Second Pays $15

I had scraped my way into second place with poor chip position

Me T 715

Opp. T 7,285

Blinds 300/600

I'm in the big blind and post 600 with 64o, Opponent raises, my decision is to call my last 115, or fold and try to make something with my remaining T 115.

My thought process:

64 is a huge underdog to most cards, however he didn't need any quality hand to raise. The pot contains T1800, I would have equity of 1430 if I call. Therefore the pot is laying me approximately 12 to 1.

While 64o is a huge dog at 12-1 calling is pos ev. Folding would leave me 115.

What should have been my decision? Results to follow.

I called.

I ended up with three fours against his KQs. After which he proceeded to tilt a bit and I ended up winning the tourny 11 hands later.

Call. If he doesn't have a pair you have 6 outs to hit a pair and you have straight possibilities as well.

This a must call.

1) There are almost no hands you are a 12-1 underdog

(66 maybe)

2) If you fold, you will be all-in on the next

3 hands. If you win all 3 of them (1/8 chance),

then you will be back to where you started this

hand.

He should raise without looking. You should

call without looking.

definately call.

If you have more then one third of your chips committed to the pot, it's almost always correct to call at that point (although that rule usually applies to no limit games).

Besides, I like the number of draws...sure, it's not A-K, but hell, at least you have a shot.

Of course the original poster must call. However, if I was the big stack, I might be inclined to flat call pre-flop with absolute cheese. Don't worry, it's going to go in at some point, it's just that if my short-stacked opponent misses the flop there is more chance of him mistakenly folding on the flop than there is of him folding pre-flop (him folding at any time is good for me with only 115 left). You can even consider checking all the way to the river and then bluffing.
