I posted this a while back but never did anything about it and the advice I recieved was confusing and I didn't understand it because I know dick about computers.

So....when I try and set both of my monitors to higher than 1600x1200 resolution it doesn't quite work (don't worry, both my video card and monitors support higher resolutions so that isn't the case.

What happens is the things stay the same size, but it creates like a scrolling screen. So I can have a lot of things on the screen, but its like it is overlapping so you have to move the mouse to the corners of the screen and the screen then literally moves so you can view the stuff in the corners.
(does this make any sense, probably not)

WTF do I have to do to get this all back to normal?

Your monitor doesn't actually support the resolution and refresh rate you're trying to use.

Example: You're trying to set a monitor to 1600x1200, but it only supports 1280x1024. Your video card will still display the desktop across 1600 pixels, but the monitor will only show the first 1280. The remaining 320 will be off to the right of the screen, so when you move your mouse to the edge of the screen, the monitor will scroll the desktop so you can see it.

You may need to change the resolution, refresh rate, and/or color quality.

I use this

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/crtmonitors/aseries/a90fplus/

and this

http://www.atitech.ca/products/radeon9800/aiw9800pro/index.html

Nothing you say tells me anything on exactly how to fix the problem nor does it sound like you really would know how to fix it.

It sounds like he is saying the problem can't be solved with your equipment. Whether this is true or not I have no idea.

Ok, I clicked the link to your monitor. You are saying that you should easily be able to do 1600x1200.

I don't have any suggestions for you. My posts in this thread seem to be extremely useless. I will now step out of the way and hope that a computer techie steps in.

Good luck

You're right, I don't know how to fix it, I only do this for a living.
